I recall speaking with Parada and Pfaus at the poster presentation of these results in New Orleans at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. Pfaus has also contributed works on olfactory conditioning of place preference et al in this model organism. So far as I know, however, no evidence suggests that female rats seek "good-looking" male rats for paced copulation or because "good-looking" male rats provide the most clitoral stimulation.

Like other female mammals, female rats choose the males that have the most attractive scent.

I find a lot of those articles and other "shock" discoveries amusing having had the experience of living on a farm.
Not to mention the countless times a woman would open up and straight say "i loved his smell" talking about previous partners.
