What form do you use?

Hey guys!

I have been quite captivated by all the reports on stuff from Love Potion Perfumerie. I have a very sensitive nose (in that I can smell very well) and I really enjoy a good perfume.

One thing that I have missed in all reports I have read however (sorry, I haven't read them all yet) is the mention of how you applied the stuff. Pure perfumes (without pheromones) can be ordered as concentrated perfume oil or as a perfume spray (however not in all cases). What did you use? I suppose you could order the concentrated perfume oil and desolve that in alcohol for a sort of eau de toilette. What is the perfume spray?

For those of you who used pheromone products: What did you use? Oil-based (I'm guessing DPG) or alcohol based?

Mara, you are welcome to comment on this too! Maybe you have some ideas on how we can make our own eau de toilette using your perfumes.

Best regards,
Chris

Dad & Voracious come in a spray, all others I use oil base.
The bottle has a roller, so i just roll on a few inches and smear with the tip of on finger.
I have diluted them in many other products regardless of base, and i always shake well before using.

The oils seem very concentrated so i ordered the separate mone formulas so i can use less scented oil.

Maybe its just my imagination, but it looks like i have better luck with the alcohol based spray than the oil roll on. It spread the pheromones better with spray? While with oil base, its better for keeping it closer? But in the other hand, i kind of like the oil base much better than ozing perfume alcohol, even tough the alcohol fade away. And oil stays longer?
Most of Love Potion's perfume can be choosen between oil or alchohol base. But as Pheroman mention, not all of what they have.
From what i got from Love Potion, there are a huge variation in both type of scent and the strenght of scent. And when you look over the huge amount to choose from, there will always be much you will like but also not like. So making order of samples could of course be an good idea.

Hi Guys!

I have information posted about how to choose a base that best suits your needs...it is located here:
http://lovepotionperfume.com/reading_room/articles/FAQ1

I can turn anything you like into a spray. It's not listed as an option on the older listings but you can order it here:
http://www.lovepotionperfume.com/store/B...sting.html

As for strength - yup, we sell them quite concentrated. The FDA rules state that to be allowed to call something perfume it must contain at least 20% perfume oil. Our sprays contain around 30% perfume oil, so, much stronger than the commercial average. We use this strength because we feel that it smells exactly the same as the roll-on oils in that concentration. When diluted further, the character starts to change a bit and different notes may come to the fore - so this is the most accurate to my nose.

According to the FDA....
Perfume is 20%.
Eau de Parfum is 15% perfume oil.
Eau de Toilette is 10% perfume oil.
Eau de Cologne is 5% perfume oil.
Splash or After Shave is 1-3% perfume oil, and usually mixed with alcohol and distilled water.

So as you can see, there's a lot of room to dilute with the strength that we sell.

We also sell spray conversion kits with alcohol, and bottles of DPG, and Silicone separately for those who want to dilute their products. All of these supplies are located here, starting in the middle of the page:

Did I understand you correctly?
The concentrated perfume oils are 10ml of pure perfume oil in a roll-on bottle and the sprays are 10ml of perfume oil with 20ml of alcohol (ethanol)? Is there anything else contained to keep the solution in place?

That's quite a list you have there! Is it possible to combine something from all the lists you have into one order, like something from the standard list, something from the beta-testing and something from the long men's list?

Not exactly. Everything has some kind of dilutant to assure that it is skin safe. The concentrated perfume oils generally range from 60-75% pure perfume oil, with a DPG dilutant. (Not to over-complicate things, but different ingredients are different concentrations to start with, and some require more dilutant or more volume, some less. Many Essential Oils, spices or citrus, for example, require a higher degree of dilutant to assure that they do not irritate the skin.)

... and the sprays are 10ml of perfume oil with 20ml of alcohol (ethanol)?
That's correct, but we use SD40B perfumer's alcohol which has an emulsifier in it.

Is there anything else contained to keep the solution in place?
Not sure exactly what you mean by that? We do not use commercial stabilizers, preservatives or fixatives, which are the cause of several health concerns these days, and also serve to make a commercial fragrance smell exactly the same on everyone who wears it, (and lengthen and amplify the scent). As such, our perfumes WILL smell different on people depending upon their own skin chemistry, and they will not keep forever...they are indeed perishable, and sold while fresh - but with proper care, meaning stored in a cool dry place, they generally last 5-6 years before any noticeable changes occur. You also might come across some oils that have to be shaken before use because they separate - this is also due to the absence of chemical stabilizers. In these cases we sticker the caps with "shake before use" labels. This does not occur with the sprays because the perfumer's alcohol has an emulsifying agent which helps ingredients to blend.

Can you give me an example? I want to say, SURE! but I'm not positive what you are asking here. On the whole, I'm very happy to craft things to order. The phero lists are repeated in various areas of the website but should contain the same items.

I mean an emulsifier - and you answered the question without really understanding it. I'm impressed. :dance3:

Sure I can!
There are several lists I can visit. I can browse your catalogue by navigating to the perfumerie from the home page. Then there is a link you gave us here in the forum to the men's products. And IIRC there is also a link to the beta-products (still being tested). All these pages look distinctly different. Can I mix products from all these pages into one order?

BTW. How do you handle customs? I imagine that you will ship to Germany, but what will customs have to say about that? Do you include a bill? How do you declare the contents?

Cheers!
Chris

I am happy to mix any Pheromones that we offer per your directions. The maximum orderable via the cart is a concentration of 3,000 mcg per 1 oz spray bottle. If you want something other than what is orderable via the cart, I can send you a PayPal invoice.

You're not asking to mix finished fragrances are you? That could be a bit of a disaster! LOL! Yes But I am happy to craft custom fragrances too. That option is available on the page called PRIVATE EDITIONS.

We ship to Germany every week. From experience, I can tell you that if the customer chooses International Priority, their packages get through faster without being opened by customs - at least thus far this has been the case. Yes we include the invoice, but thus far we've had good success with items going through without being taxed or searched. If you order sprays, you should request them in metal spray bottles (I will do this if I notice it's an international order anyway, but it's good to have it on the order form). Anyway, use Int'l Priority and order sprays in metal bottles so they are considered air-safe, and leave the rest to us.
Thanks, Chris!

I have Pheromones from Love Potion in both roll on (straight phero), roll on (blended fragrance and phero), spray (straight phero) and spray (blended fragrance with phero). I like them all. I have found that I do have a preference as to which form for certain Pheromones. I like a-nol in a spray form better and cops in a roll on better. I guess because I want the cops to be a little more personal. The sprays do diffuse better in the sense that you have a bigger phero cloud. But the roll ons seem to last a bit longer due to the oil. I think it's really about trial and error and finding your own personal preference and knowing to what extent you want them to diffuse to a crowd (spray) or hang close to draw them in (roll on).
