I realized this when I tried to edit one of my old threads... That I could not edit it! lol.

I used to own and operate various MyBB based websites back in the day, so I have a few ideas you could implement.
(for you non-technical folk, this website is run on MyBB and is why it looks and functions a certain way.)
  • "View My Threads" link added next to "Today's Posts." This is a handy feature which I personally always use so that I can easily see which of my threads have new replies. I noticed on my forums after I added this that members posted more often.
  • Member Group Rankings: VIP Class - Right now everyone is either set to a normal registered user, banned, or an admin. What I propose is a new group called VIP or similar. This new group can edit their own threads, have a fancy user group image, a new forum section where only they may see and post in, a different username color, the ability to change their username, and perhaps more benefits as well. It is a MyBB plugin that omni made awhile back, and you can make it so "upgrading" to the vip group will cost X per month or a one time fee, etc. I would personally buy it because I hang out on this site a lot.
  • Moderators - Excuse my ignorance if there are already mods. If there are any, they should have different usergroup images and a different username color so people can tell who they are. If there are not any mods, I would recommend having at least 3.
  • Cloudflare -Not sure if this site uses it or not. Kind of a no brainer these days to use it but just to be sure! http://www.wpsite.net/what-is-cloudflare...loudflare/
  • Disable Friendly Redirect pages - For gods sake, please disable it lol. It's just annoying and does not serve any purpose. What I'm talking about is when you make a new thread, it says "click here to go back to where you came from!" or similar enough.

Let me know if you would like further explanation on any of these ideas. These are all ideas that I have personal experience installing so I am more than willing to help out if needed.
Hi
The only comment i have is about usernames.

I can tell you that if you want to have VIPs they shouldn't be able to change usernames. It's hard enough being new in an established board without having the advanced users, the experts, changing their names. Asa new user you identify the experts on the board who you most readily associate with, and if they change their names, even once, while you're trying to learn from them it can be confusing, and leave you aat a loss to find them and their expertise again.

The counter argument would be that you just mark these users, add them to your buddy list or the like, but that's putting it on the beginner to learn even more. The simplest solution is to not allow name changes.
To answer the suggestions:

1. You can view all your threads already, either by going to Profile - Statistics - View All Posts, or by clicking on a username in any post and clicking View All Threads. Same holds true for posts.

2. I am in agreement with sushi on the idea of members being able to change usernames at will. As to charging members a fee for membership upgrades, will not happen! As to a private forum that only VIP members can view.....Well, that just might be something that we already have for members that have been around awhile and contributed a lot. Smile

3. We don't have any moderators, but we really don't have much of a need to moderate much either, other than an occasional spam posting here and there.

4. After this and several other pheromone forums were hit with DDoS attacks back in July we reactivated CloudFlare and purchased the Pro protection.

5. Friendly Redirection I have no problem disabling, as you're right it serves no real purpose.
1) Takes too long lol, I was just recommending the convenience of adding a link to the right. Steve Jobs Philosophy
2) Interesting perspective, I can respect that
3) well then thats a good thing!
4) Ah very good, glad to hear it. Surprises me honestly that phero forums were being ddos targeted, they dont seem very high profile. Must be some skids. Certainly pro status is wonderful to have.
5) can't wait haha

I'm also thinking of other forums. I would like to see this one at the top in terms of popularity so I'm trying to figure out what will get it there.
Gotta have something they dont ;)
