Hello fellows

A while back I posted a message about low sex drive, fat gain and hrt.

I told you I attend the Mens clinic in toronto which treat low test, sexual problems etc.

Well they tested my testosterone and here are the results:

Testosterone: 8.2 (Normal 8.4 -28.8) nmol/L Result: LOW

testosterone free: 18.6 (Normal 25-80) pmol/L Result: LOW

Lutropin (LH) Total Prolactin 46 (normal 2-18) Result: HIGH

Now even with these dismall results the doctor was trying to get me on injection therapy for erections and pushing back the administration of HRT.. why?

He told me the total results of my test show that my test is low but may not be the reason for erection problems. Yet I more worried right now about my health than scoring. I mean doesn't it make sense I get my hormones levels up to natural for my age?

Thus I told him I am going to wait on the penis injection therapy and go for more bloodwork for testosterone.

Depending on this he will either decide to prescribe test or not. I sure hope he does. I wonder why he didn't treat it like it was a major issue.. I mean low test can eventually kill right? Or do you think there were other reasons he didn't want me treated for low test right away.

I complained of lethargy, lack of focus , no sex drive, weakness in muscles, problems sleeping and he blamed that all on my depression/anxiety illness and meds and not low test levels.. he told me that my doctor has to get that issue resolved and my test will come to normal. Well I've been on the meds for 13 years and things aren't going to change there soon.. I need the meds. Also I don't think getting anxiety and depression issues resolved will leave me with normal test levels, and furthermore at this stage of the illness if i change/stop meds I could end up hospitalized.

Now last time I was tested for HRT was years ago and my test levels were roughly the same.. What is the impact of test levels being so low for so long?

What are your thoughts? Should I force HRT or find a doctor who WILL administer?
Your doctor is a quack, get a new one. If you have low test and high prolactin you're likely to have E.D. Probably just wants to make money by writing never ending scripts for caverject.
That does sound SHAKY.

What are the prices of each?

I have no idea, for this is hearsay, but one of my friends who has been on HRT for about 5 years now, says there is a shortage on the steroid used for HRT. Pioneer
Especially if he is going to say you are close to the normal range.
the normal range represents 90% of men, ages 18-59
if you are lower than that, then you are in the lowest 5% of men, if you are higher than than you are in the highest 5% of men.
Your doctor gets paid to not write you perscriptions, his contract may give him bonuses yearly for writing fewer perscriptions, so if he saves the government (canada right? national healthcare?) 1million dollars, then they give him a $50,000 bonus at the end of the year.

Your doctor is a jerk to leave you at a level that is lower than the 5% level of [8 nmol/L = 230.5476 ng/dL] the average 59 year old man. Same with the free Testosterone, sorry that 95% of 60 year olds have more testosterone than you do.

You should kick the Dr. in his nuts!

You will need to convert your nmol/L & Pmol/L to ng/dL but that isn't hard.

again,
you are way low by these charts as well. Look at how the numbers change when you take the diabetics out of the averaging. Sorry if the tables don't line up, the links are in here so you can see them with better formatting.

Oh, by the way, my doctor gave me a perscription as soon as he saw my numbers down near the bottom.
I think it works. He said if you get 1 shot per week ~800mg of Testosterone Cypionate, the peak is around 2 days after the injection, so inject on Thursdays if you want the weekend to have better erections.

Sorry are you getting 800 mg of test a week or a month (200 a week)? 800 does seem like juice level and not hrt!
Hi fellow comrades

You guys are the best.. I have lower test than 95 % of 60 year old men.. Wow .. And I'm wondering why my erections are weak, sex drive is low, and brain is foggy and tired. No amount of natural weight training, protein diets, or even fat intake is going to take me out of the low range into normal. It looks like I need hrt. I'll get on it as soon as possible and report back

You are correct, I made a math error.
.4mL x 200mg/mL = 80mg per week, not 800mg, that would be really high.
To take umbrage

You had me scared for a moment Heat
Hey comrades.

Back from another visit to the CMC .. Last time i wrote I mentioned the test results of my testosterone test.. Well they sent me for another more detailed free testosterone test and the results came back even lower -- I was given a 6 on the scale I noted above.

So the doctor there told me there are 3 solutions. orals, gels, and injections. He stated orals can't be monitored in bloodwork.. i.e. the testosterone tests I take in the future won't show the improvements or lack thereof. So I opted out.

Then he mentioned the gels. He stated androgel (two types of gels one for applications to chest and stomach, and one for application under armpits.. he said the one under armpits is new and not covered by medical plans, and it costs a hefty 140$ out of pocket per month.. The regular androgel is covered and there is no cost to me as my plan covers it)

Finally i asked him what about test cyp injections..he replied "I can't start you on them until we see if the gels work because I cannot monitor safely if you or your doctor is administrating the right dose, overdosing, underdosing etc. It would be irresponsible.. If the gels don't work that will then be our next option"

He gave me a prescription for 3 month supply of androgels sachets (whatever that is), and said effects should take place in a month, and I'm to do bloodwork 3 months down the line).

Well what do you think now? He said this may cure libido but not underlying erection problems.. I will still need to be on therapy for that.

He also warned me of the risk of enlarged prostrate with this therapy and states by age 49 1/3 men have enlarged prostrate and testosterone increases the risk of getting it and also increasing the risk of prostrate cancer.

In the end I decided having the test levels of a 69 year old is not going to be any better for my health than risking enlarged prostrate or prostrate cancer. So I opted for the androgel gel.

Also have any of you guys heard of penis prosthesis? That is penis implants? I imagine having bionic dick would be close to heavenly seeing you can get and keep an erection with the pumping of a ball inserted into your scrotum. That dick can stay hard for as long as you wish.. Imagine the life of having a penis that works 100% of the time anytime you need it too and stays erect until your partner just can't take anymore. Sounds inviting but I wonder of the complications to surgery, the costs , and the fact that many complain they're penis after surgery is 1 inch less in length and smaller in thickness. Scary-- unless your blessed with a naturally enormous penis which most aren't
Your doc seems pretty "low tech" to be blunt.

Pills? I'm not sure what this means exactly to be honest. What pills is he referencing?

The gels are hit or miss, mostly miss from what I have heard- and how do you avoid contaminating people, especially women, who get close to you?

Injections work but are the most invasive.

Its like I have been harping on, you try Clomid/Nolva first to "restart" or "refresh" the HPTA axis and then move to other methods.

You can also try Wellbutrin, it can increase dopamine levels thereby potentially raising your libido.

Do you get enough vitamin D and Zinc?
