Nootropics - Black Machismo - 01-31-2013 4:48 PM

Is there anyone on this site that are interested in them? I've been doing some research but still kinda new to this. Need something that will give me that extra boost since I'm in school.

I've heard about Provigil, Modafinil and Nuvigil. I was wondering is there was something a little plan versus creating a nootropics stack

RE: Nootropics - thundr - 01-31-2013 5:20 PM

If I had the extra cash I would be taking this little mix:

Nootropic Stack

AM
100mg-500mg Phosphatidyl Serine
25-50mg DMAA
100-200mg Caffeine
500mg-1 gram Choline
25-75mg Pramiracetam
750mg-1.5 grams Aniracetam

PM
100mg-500mg Phosphatidyl Serine
25-50mg DMAA
500mg-1 gram Choline
1-3 grams Piracetam
750mg-1.5 grams Oxiracetam

Look them up, pram is prolly the best thing you can take on a budget, IMO. Mix it in a bit of fish oil or I use coconut oil for the medium chain triglycerides.

Right now Im poor as shit with bills like bees up to my knees. So I take 35 mg a day of pram dissolved in coconut oil. You can also skip the choline supplement by eating a shitload of eggs, namely the yolks. I usually eat at least 8 a day sometime up to a dozen.
Yeah my body craves eggs for some odd reason. I feel like shit if I dont get them.

I'm interested in that kind of thing. Personally, the racetams tend to make me feel like shit, mentally, even with choline supplementation, though others swear by them. I don't know what the difference is. Most of the best nootropics, for me, have been stuff that helped me address my ADD. Green vegetable juicing. Eliminating processed foods and using fresh whole foods instead. B vitamins, esp, B2. Barley Grass Juice, which contains both Chlorophyll (a magnesium source), Hordenine ( a short-term MAOI), B2 and ... probably some other stuff I haven't identified yet, has been helpful for me. Creatine is good for vegetarians, but the stuff has the reverse effect on meat eaters. Excess nitrogenous wastes, maybe? There's a sweet spot for the stuff, I think.

A little acid neutral mixed ascorbates (c-salts) at less than a gram a day can be helpful in making sure your body has all the nutrients it needs. I've looked hard into megadosing vit c, though, and I'm not for it.

Provigil and nuvigil are interesting in seeming to have a mechanism of action different than caffiene.

Stuff that boosts REM sleep will amp memory. Bacopa also is supposed to help with memory, but I don't know how to use it.

pycnogenol is a minor help, but not enough for me to take it regularly.

... a lot of playing with nootropics is about fine-tuning yourself a little faster, I think. So you kindof have to find your rough spots before starting in order to sand them down.

RE: Nootropics - John Schlongfellow - 01-31-2013 7:48 PM

been playing with methelene blue at 50ng to 50mcg doses
not sure if it does anything other than make my back tingle in a couple spots lolz

tried some hordenine recently and that might have done something ADD related, was waiting on scales to be serious about dosing taper

gonna order some pram because it's cheap and that's a good place to start when you don't know if it'll work
thanks for giving me a shove

creatine doesn't do a thing for my mind but makes me horny as hell and increases seminal fluid volume and reduces viscosity
don't look at me, wiserd brought up the creatine and I'm just adding long term user results

my standard testing procedure for ADD reduction is to write something and see if my eyes can be kept on the pen tip
most times I flutter back and forth 1-3 times per second
3mg adderal reduces it to every other second

today I was looking into cyp2d enzyme group inhibition to slow the clearing of addy, but damned if real life didn't demand my attention

does anyone have a better way to test? other than memory?

RE: Nootropics - Valentino - 02-01-2013 3:56 AM

ONNIT Labs makes some good nootropics I've tried Alpha Brain, it does exactly as it says. Use code ROGAN as in Joe Rogan to get 10% off.

RE: Nootropics - LL21 - 02-01-2013 4:34 AM

Valentino brought up a great point.I was gonna steer the conversation in another direction though. Are the effects of Alpha Brain by Onnit not what your looking for? I understand that people prefer the ability to choose how much of each product goes to into your body. But are you guys looking for more specific effects or just more control over the nootropics entering your body. This is directed to thundr, wiserd and John.

I heard about Alpha Brain but when I was doing some research on the internet I heard they removed a couple ingridents and now it doesnt have that same "punch" that it use to have.

RE: Nootropics - Black Machismo - 02-01-2013 11:27 AM

Only vitamin options I heard of is DMAE and Ginkgo Biloba. I havent tried DMAE but when I take one 120mg Ginko Biloba pill I get a crazy ass headache..

RE: Nootropics - thundr - 02-01-2013 11:36 AM

I used to take DMAE sublingual in college. Was really good for focus. But then again I was on alot of other drugs at the time as well. LOL

Never got much from ginko. I read somewhere its a cumulative type supp

RE: Nootropics - Dafixisin - 02-01-2013 1:36 PM

Well, as long as we're re-visiting nootropics (a subject I'm actually fascinated by):

http://www.wired.com/reviews/2009/09/pr_studydrugs

While I'm sure that pharma options like Provigil and Modafinil work like gangbusters (there are simply waaaay too many anecdotes to suggest that they do), the potential side-effects of the hard stuff has got me skiddish.

I'm looking for whatever is good for ADD, really. (I've tried some ADD meds but had bad, sometimes unusual, reactions.) Or that promotes general health. Boosting epinephrine seems to be good. I like stuff that can be turned off. I don't want to be wired for 6 hours straight. I don't think that that's healthy. I'm willing to try stuff like Vyvanse. But the problem is that the FDA wants to 'reduce abuse potential' which means making stuff that slow burns over a long time. Meaning I'll have to commit an entire day to thinking a different way, when I prefer stuff that can get me through a meeting or a hard problem and then I'm done. Maybe I should give the stuff a go anyways. *shrug*

I suspect that a tobacco extract might be awesome in the short term, but I don't want the addiction, the long term effects or the stigma/ increased health care costs attached to the stuff. I've never checked if nicotine's impact on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors are part of what makes it addictive or not, and whether there might be a modified version of nicotine which did the same thing but in a healthier way. Someday. The MAOIs (Harmala alkaloids) in Tobacco and other plants certainly look interesting. Short term MAOIs seem to be my personal ideal.

RE: Nootropics - halo0073 - 02-01-2013 5:55 PM

according to my dr it is the effect on the nicotine receptor that makes it addictive. Taking chantix goes in and flips the receptor's switch into thinking you've never had nicotine.

I have ADD/ADHD too and have taken many drugs for it. Every stimulant I have tried i have eventually become immune to. How it works on day one is not how it works on day 90. I am not taking anything for it anymore.

Yeah, I know the feeling. But green vegetable juicing will work day after day. I know that much. It's just so time consuming and I'm not near a place that uses the veggies I like, like kale (or anything in the brassica genus. Cabbage does a reasonable job.) That helps me reduce my sugar intake and I can often feel my brain turning back on if I've gone a week or so without the stuff.

RE: Nootropics - John Schlongfellow - 02-01-2013 8:58 PM

ok so I've been on the fence with this topic for a while but this thread HAS really given me a shove.

Looking at this seller I'm planning on buying Pram and hordenine
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_hpc?_encoding=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=Supplements4Less&node=3760901
I'm sorry to have to ask this, especially since they have 249 listings lol.
Is there anything else I should be looking at there?

EDIT
I left out mentioning that I am slowly going through the list of available nootropics but of the 3 I
ve investigated so far there is little to no evidence that they really do anything. I'm counting user reviews as semi valid.
Much of the scientific data is over my head which isn't speeding the process up. For every paragraph I read, there is at least one hour spent understanding definitions of the terms used. bleh.... good long term...... hard on today's schedule....

RE: Nootropics - GStarZ - 03-30-2013 6:09 PM

I've been taking Nootropics for some time now, and I know a lot of good references and have done my due diligence in regards to the nootropics I take.

My current stack is:
Piracetam 3-4 x 800mg vcaps
Aniracetam 2-3 x 750mg vcaps
Pramiracetam 1-2 x 300mg vcaps
Sulbutiamine 2-3 x 250mg vcaps
Choline Bitartrate 310mg vcap every other day
L-Theanine 2 x 100mg vcaps

What all is everyone else stacking with?

How is Pramiracetam and my stack looks similar to yours minus the Sulbutiamine

RE: Nootropics - GStarZ - 04-03-2013 11:46 PM

Pramiracetam is nice, out of the three Racetams I take I have to say that when i first added it to the stack I definitely noticed it pretty much right off the bat. Sulbutiamine isn't that bad of an inclusion, it is a good mood elevator similar to L-Theanine, but is also great for mental fatigue. I tend to take it when i wake up, or have to pull an all-nighter.

How are you liking your stack thus far?

My stack is good so far, my only complaint is how many pills I have to take. With your stack are you taking it 2x or 3x a day. Did you order your Sulbutiamine and Pramiracetam off SmartDrugs

RE: Nootropics - GStarZ - 04-09-2013 9:21 PM

Yes both Sulbutiamine and Pramiracetam I order through SDFT. I take the Piracetam, Aniracetam, and L-Theanine in the morning with my breakfast. Just after lunch I take the Pramiracetam and Sulbutiamine after lunch, and the CDP after dinner before I start getting ready to sleep.

Yea taking so many pills through out the day can be tedious, but I noticed a more thorough benefit by staggering my stack some what while not having to take so many capsules at once.

RE: Nootropics - Black Machismo - 04-30-2013 4:53 PM

Hows your stack going any new info?

RE: Nootropics - Black Machismo - 04-30-2013 5:37 PM

I've just made a purchase for Pramiracetam and Phenylpiracetam. Have you tried Phenylpiracetam before GStarZ

RE: Nootropics - GStarZ - 05-02-2013 11:59 PM

My stack is going pretty good, got a few new nootropics in that I am testing out alone before considering where/if to throw them into my stack.

New Nootropics In:
Oxiracetam
Noopept
Phenylpiracetam

I got them in on Monday and have been tinkering with Phenylpiracetam first due to it being the new strongest racetam on the market. It's pretty good to be honest, definitely a potent racetam, and when taken with piracetam provides a seemingly well rounded boost without overstimulating the mind. Next week I'll be taking the Phenylpiracetam with the rest of my stack to see how it plays in with it and if I will continue using it.

I've noticed that if I take it before working out or physical activities I have a noticeable stamina/endurance boost which to me is never a bad thing. I managed to push out a couple of extra laps on the second day with out feeling any more fatigued than I would with my normal run without phenylpiracetam.

I pretty much got the Phenylpiracetam and Oxiracetam to begin working on an evening time stack to help with working out, late night studies, or for late night activities. Haven't gotten to try the Oxiracetam yet, but based off of the reviews it is supposed to help with manual dexterity and locomotor functionality. So I figured making some sort of Phenylpiracetam and Oxiracetam stack would create a nice little "creative physical" stack if you will for me.

Have you gotten your Phenyl in yet?

Yes came in yesterday just in time to because I have finals on Tuesday. So I'm going to play around with then today so Tuesay I'll be good to go.

Any suggestions

RE: Nootropics - idontknow - 05-03-2013 10:54 AM

Interesting thread. I'm occasionally taking 10mg Noopept and 1200mg Lecithin. Both spaced out, as both together often gives me a headache.

For me Noopept basically does what most reports suggest. It increases my language skills a bit and makes me a bit more outgoing. Actually I like it a lot and wonder if it has long-term positive effects. Also I seemingly don't get a bad hangover if I take the NP before going out drinking.

I'd say take the Pram and Phenyl in the afternoon, maybe before lunch. They both are very strong racetams, and Phenylpiracetam's supposed to have a half life of up to 5 hours I believe so it could still be active well into early evening especially when taken with Pram and the other nootropics in your stack. Good luck on your finals mate

L-Theanine in the morning? It's usually used as a sleep aid or for its calming properties.

From my experience L-Theanine is calming, but not so much that it puts you to sleep if you're not already trying to sleep already. And I remember seeing some studies that combined caffeine and l-theanine for a calm, focused alertness effect.

RE: Nootropics - sityslicker1 - 05-24-2013 9:54 PM

My stack...

750mg Aniracetam x 2/day
500mg Alpha GPC x 2/day

Great site for nootropics for anyone interested, http://www.smartpowders.com/nootropics.html

RE: Nootropics - dp310 - 05-27-2013 12:34 AM

Received Noopept + Pramiracetam + Oxiracetam today.

Took 15mg of Noopept for the first time, about 30 mins ago.

Effects -

Definite strong feeling of "loving kindness". To the point of startling me when it first kicked in. I've had this feeling before, when doing certain kinds of meditation, but I've never had it arise spontaneously without effort on my part.

There may be other effects, I feel somewhat serene, but nothing strong enough for me to notice a dramatic difference. Senses feel more or less normal.

My first impression is that this is a good nootropic for connection building.

RE: Nootropics - thisguy - 06-25-2013 1:23 PM

I've been taking modafinil for a month or so, I wouldn't classify it as a nootropic. It simply keeps me feeling awake and alert for 4-6 hours without giving me shakes. If you take to much you may feel some anxiety so make sure if you do take some, cut the pills in half.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 11-21-2013 3:24 PM

Just received 500mg of IDRA-21 and PRL-8-53 today. Took ~2mg IDRA-21 sublingually. No scale at the moment, so I can only guess at the true doses for now.

No taste whatsoever, seemed to dissolve after 5 minutes or so, as that's when I started to notice a tingling sensation in my head (right hemisphere, mostly). After about 15 minutes, I felt lifted of the lethargy that had been rendering me useless late in the day. This feeling felt too subtle and distinct to write off as placebo, but there is always that possibility. This wasn't the angry, irritable feeling I get from most stimulants. I would describe it as a calm, laid-back energy. Previously having felt tired, I can hardly feel this lack of mental energy at this point. Well, those are my preliminary thoughts for now. This drug shows tons of potential, and it's pretty clear to me I haven't even scratched the surface yet. I'll be sure to update if I notice anything else. Prior to taking this substance, I was almost entirely unable to function mentally. Now, I'm awake as can be. I'm astounded I was able to type after being in such a miserable condition just a short while ago. Excellent but subtle results so far.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 11-21-2013 6:45 PM

Holy shit PRL tastes awful, like paint or something. Very bitter. Numbed my tongue, too. Impatient as I am, I ended up taking both substances in the same day. Guess that makes me the first to combine the two, haha. Hope I don't kill myself with this one. May play some dual n-back if I'm in the mood, compare before and after scores. My working memory is pretty much non-existent, so I doubt these substances could make it any worse. I find I'm incredibly sensitive to all types of substances, so I'm sure the more profound changes will be noticed within the month.

I'm getting a more pronounced tingling sensation from PRL than with IDRA, more a rapid pulse than a slow, subtle throb. It's very pronounced, though not unpleasant. They're definitely doing something, these two, but I'll need to do something more intense in order to find out what this effect might be. Off to do a few n-back games, perhaps.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 11-21-2013 7:28 PM

As expected, no significant change in dual n-back scores. Subjectively, I found myself to have a greater ability to concentrate on both letters and positions (I have serious ADD, so focus and concentration are very poor for me, moreso than your average "sufferer"). Real changes should begin taking shape in about a week or so, I'd expect.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 11-25-2013 12:19 AM

Some more thoughts on IDRA-21:

Mental fatigue seems to take much longer to set in while on this substance. Even after fatigue sets in, I no longer feel the cognitive deficits I normally do. If I choose to remain awake, I can do so without even having to think about it, yet if I decide to sleep, I can do so more easily than when off the substance. This isn't a stimulant, so the comedown should be pretty smooth. With a half-life of 3 days, I still have another 48 hours before the effects fade (I re-dosed the day after taking the first dose).

I'm noticing a constant headache, sometimes unpleasant, often unnoticable unless I think about it.

I've noticed the pain intensifying effect as well. Hot water is now downright painful. Interesting, but not an effect I'd like to continue to experience. I could only imagine going through a car accident on this stuff. Due to the MoA, anesthetics are rendered useless while on this stuff, forcing one to remain awake during surgery. Terrifying stuff indeed.

I'll be testing PRL for now until I get back to school. Nothing too impressive yet, but I'm sure this substance will shine in a different environment.

No dangerous interactions as far as I'm aware. It's always healthy to exercise caution, but this really isn't a legitimate cause for concern with what's being put in our food and other such things. It's unlikely that, after over 20 years of pheromone use, not a single person has reported a negative interaction to this day. I highly doubt you have anything to worry about here.

The fact is, we really don't understand exactly what pheromones are doing just yet. If you aren't comfortable in knowing that, don't use them. We're experimenting here without understanding the mechanisms of action by which pheromones work. It's not an exact science at this point. However, in the dosage range we use here, inyeractions are almost impossible, I'm confident in that. Do your research and decide for yourself what to do. There isn't much information out there, but there should at least be enough to convince you of its safety.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 12-05-2013 7:23 AM

IDRA and PRL seem to be cancelling each other out. Will do a wash-out period of about a week and resume testing IDRA. Just taking PRL today, and while I can't seem to notice any effects, the pressure in my head feels more pronounced over using both IDRA and PRL.

Recklessly decided to combine IDRA with Coluracetam. Got a massive headache with no noted positive effects. Might try a megadose of IDRA this Thursday, ~100mg.

Headaches on racetam's are usually because lack of Choline or that your adrenals are overworked. If you haven't read around a bit at longecity.org , a lot of info there.

Personally I can't use racetam's because my adrenals are to overworked from stress, you can test this by standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom with the lights out. Use a flashlight and move it from the right side of your head around to the front, but don't point it directly in the eye. You want to look at if your pupil is keeping it's dilation or if it keeps changing in size all the time like it can't focus. If it is changing in size then it is likely you have a stress hormone imbalance which will affect your effects with racetam's.

I stick to natural stuff because of this and since it's also safer. I like to use Theanine, Rhodiola Rosea, Creatine, Turmeric, Ashwagandha, Schisandra, Gynostemma, Lemon Balm, Kratom, Kava and I'm also trying out Holy Basil and Lion's Mane right now. Not to mention all the other health benefits from these herbals.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 12-10-2013 5:23 AM

I've read tons over at Longecity, so I'm certainly aware of choline overload. As far as I'm aware, Coluracetam upregulates the choline system rather than depleting it, so I'm fairly certain this isn't the case here. This felt more like the headache from IDRA amplified - something seemed to be interacting here, though I'm not sure what. I'm an enthusiast after all, not a scientist.

I wouldn't say herbals are necessarily safer than most racetams (especially the more researched 4, Ani, Oxi, Pira, and Colur). Keep in my that Turmeric contains an MAOI as an active ingredient and that Rhodiola and Kava are MAOIs themselves and should not be combined under any circumstances. Just because something is natural doesn't make it safe. Always be aware of side effects and potential interactions, as some can be fatal. Outside of Deprenyl, I tend to steer clear of MAOIs for this very reason.

Thanks I was not aware that Kava was an MAOI, even though it is a weak one. The hazards of interactions with medications and synthetics is much more serious than naturally occurring substances with reversible MAOI activity (Rhodiola, Curcumin/Turmeric, Kava). They seem to get mixed up especially in warnings against tyramine containing foods and beverages. Reversible inhibitors is much safer and you have to really dig around to find a case of serotonin syndrome from herbs alone, I have yet to see one. The most common case of SS is mixing SSRI's with MAOIs or mixing MDMA with MAOIs. There are people taking Rhodiola while on SSRIs, even though it is not recommended it is not a problem normally. People get this all mixed up when it comes to reversible inhibitors. It's the irreversible ones you wanna stay away from, which most are 'man made'.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 12-12-2013 5:06 AM

Just took ~100mg IDRA orally this morning. No effects noticed as of yet other than the pressure in my head, which seems no greater than in lower doses. Will report back if I notice anything of interest.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 12-13-2013 9:47 AM

Visualization seems noticably (but not significantly) greater compared to baseline. The subtle effects experienced the first day must have been placebo. Muscle memory is significantly more consistent while on IDRA, the only reason this experiment hasn't been a complete disappointment. I'll be switching back to PRL and adding Coluracetam, Deprenyl, and occasional Galantamine.

As far as PRL, I've noticed a subtle increase in memory retention, but again, no other effects.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 12-18-2013 6:27 AM

Took ~8mg of PRL with ~24mg Coluracetam yesterday. The first and only pronounced effect from the combo happened when writing an essay. I found my flow to be far greater than usual, and while my word choice wasn't entirely unusual for myself, the ordering made my writing seem very elegant. I had a bit more of an "artsy"style than usual, preferring to be less blunt and matter-of-fact about things. Style over substance, but in a good way. I didn't notice the usual subtle effect PRL has on my memory retention, but I really had nothing I needed to memorize that day either. It seems these 2 really only shine when you push yourself, something I'm rarely able to do with all the problems I'm currently facing (remnants of drug-induced depression, issues in the PFC due to ADD, unwilling to treat the symptoms due to all the horrendous substances I'd been prescribed, insomnia, mental fatigue possibly due to sleep apnea, etc.) It'll take a good bit of work, but I'm determined to rid myself of every last one of these issues. As I cling on to this one and only life, the promise these new substances bring are all that's motivating my will to live. I'll attempt to have my doctor prescribe Memantine, Intuniv, and Armodafinil once I have time to pay him a visit. Deprenyl and Galantamine are the next two I plan to try, and possibly NSI-189 within these next couple of months, which by the way just became available through a reputable eBay seller named nyles7. Hopefully the product is of acceptable purity, else I may just wait for the next group buy on Longecity. I'll update if anything interesting occurs.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 01-01-2014 3:14 AM

IDRA just triggered some of the most self-destructive thought patterns I've yet experienced on a substance. No amphetamine could trigger such strong hatred in me. No SSRI has made me so careless towards others. I now understand a report on Reddit describing this as the most terrifying substance he's ever ingested - I now understand what he means. After less than 10 doses, never again will I take this poisonous drug. Much longer and I fear that I'd go insane. I now understand why Isochroma recommended suicide for another user at Longecity. Just sitting here, I fear I might've taken the same path. Suicide is once again in the back of my mind. I only hope I survive the half-life of this drug - my last dose was yesterday, so I have another 2 days before the effects die down. Seriously dangerous stuff, guys. This is not a nootropic, this is a drug that slowly convinces you to commit suicide. Heroin feels relatively safe after experiencing the dark side of IDRA. Avoid at all costs.

Sounds nasty man, hang in there it will pass! I've experienced similar stuff on RCs, it sucks and the reason why I stay away. Get out and do something you usually like to distract you while the effects die down.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 01-01-2014 12:28 PM

Fortunately the effects subsided after taking a nap for a few hours. Past emotional trauma in combination with IDRA's emotional amplification caused a mild state of psychosis/mania. Looking back at what I had written in this state brings to mind Isochroma in his hypomanic days, though much more self-destructive. The few benefits I've received from IDRA simply aren't worth all the nasty sides. I'll stick to PRL + Colur for now, though this won't deter me from continuing to try the latest substances. I'll just have to be a little more careful from here on out. Just because something is labeled as a nootropic doesn't mean it can't kill you, and this is the worst of 'em at the moment.

RE: Nootropics - TheBoogieMan - 01-09-2014 10:38 PM

I swear by modafinil but I've also had good results with phenibut. Moderation and control is very important with these two though, especially the latter.

RE: Nootropics - _alex_ - 01-10-2014 12:31 AM

Talking about modafinil, anybody know where I can order some to Canada without an prescription?

RE: Nootropics - TheBoogieMan - 01-10-2014 11:43 AM

^I'd check out r/nootropics on Reddit. They have a wealth of information about modafinil and reputable vendors, with reviews for each. I'm not from Canada, so I'm not sure off the top of my head.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 01-11-2014 8:51 AM

Just started using nicotine patches yesterday, got to sleep in 5 minutes in combo with 2 sprays XiSt. Funny how the cause for some becomes the cure for others. How's that for placebo? This may be the most sedative substance I've ever taken. Opiates couldn't put me to sleep this fast, even in combo with promethazine. This is like a stronger, faster-acting melatonin for me. As long as this effect is consistent, I think I may have found myself a new favourite sleep aid. Got a rash for about half an hour, but applying on the stomach has worked well for me. One of the most useful substances I've taken for sure, though not for the reasons I had expected.

As long as you don't use it daily it works great for that, daily it will lose it's magic with tolerance, just like when smoking.

RE: Nootropics - evitala - 01-12-2014 2:55 AM

I'm really eager to try nootropics but at the same time terrified of any potential side effects... Right now I am actually trying out NZT.1 from Paneuromix to see if it helps me with my focus and all that, so far so good haha but I'll have to do some research to see if it's good to take in the long run, too.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 01-12-2014 8:37 AM

The Huperzine A contained in that mix will fry your brain over the long-term. It's fine to take once a month or less, but any more than that and you're at serious risk for brain damage over the long term. Other acetylcholinesterase inhibitors carry the same risk, Galantamine being one of the more common examples. How long have you been taking it? Under 6 months shouldn't cause any real damage. My suggestion? If you're getting good results, take a look at the formula and start using the dosages listed in bulk powder form. It'll save you a lot of money and damage in the long term. I'd recommend NewMind and NewStarNootropics, as those are the most reliable suppliers out there.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 01-12-2014 8:43 AM

Tried nicotine again, alone this time. Took about 2 hours to get to sleep, half as much as usual. It's likely the epiallopregnanolone, THDOC, and P74 contained in XiSt did more to help my insomnia than the nicotine did. Tolerance doesn't set in this quick with nicotine patches as far as I'm aware, so this is the only conclusion I could muster up. I got to sleep pretty quick compared to my usual days, but it was nothing like the day before.

Inositol - wiserd - 01-16-2014 10:57 PM

I've been reading about inositol, recently. It's good for those with metabolic issues, PCOS, depression and anxiety though possibly not those with bipolar. It seems to interact with the cholenergic system, though I'm not sure exactly how yet. But since it works synergistically with choline, I figured it might be relevant to some of your interests. It's found in food in small quantities. Myo-inositol is available for cheap on PureBulk. It's 50% as sweet as sugar, so you can mix it into your food.

Yes, I'm aware of Inositol. In fact, along with Noopept, Selank, and Krill Oil, it's at the top of my next purchasing list. I've tried it at low doses before, but I intend to start using 18g per dose for OCD and SA now.

Cool. Good luck and let us know how that works out! Watch out for lethargy at high doses.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 01-17-2014 5:47 PM

Thanks for the heads up. Given my ADD, it's been impossible to find something to combat lethargy. Nicotine, amphetamines, caffeine, DLPA - all traditional stimulants put me to sleep. Armodafinil and Semax are the last two I intend to try. With this side effect, I'll put off purchasing until I discover a way to effectively combat lethargy. Traditional stimulants are obviously off.

RE: Nootropics - Fishdude - 01-17-2014 5:54 PM

Try some hordinene combined with PEA. Both are stimulants . Pea the love drug found in chocolate. Hordenine also a stimulant. Try them both together and you will be fucked up with pleasure.

PEA is the pleasure that gets guickly inhibited by your body. Hordinene is a natural prohibitor of that.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 01-18-2014 10:53 AM

DLPA increases the body's production of natural PEA. If that doesn't work for me, PEA certainly won't either. I'll try it again in combination with Deprenyl, another MAOI. Not messing with MAO-A, given the ridiculous amount of interactions. Hordenine is a poison with all that I'm currently taking. I'm not looking for pure pleasure, but for a natural, seemingly limitless energy. Hordenine + PEA will get you high, but it's unsustainable in the long-term. I'm looking for something sustainable right now, but I appreciate the suggestion.

RE: Nootropics - evitala - 01-25-2014 12:38 PM

So I've posted in this thread before, and I just wanted to give a slight update. I've been using NZT.1 for about a month now, and I love the stuff! I can concentrate for hours on end now, and actually pay attention in class now P Of course I still have times where it's hard to focus, but its has improved a lot. It says you're supposed to take 3 pills per day but that makes me a bit jittery so I stick with 2.

Has anybody else tried these? I'd like to know some more opinions to make sure that this is not just some stupid placebo effect, haha.

RE: Nootropics - wiserd - 01-25-2014 2:18 PM

Hordenine + PEA was messed up. I tried that for my ADD but it didn't improve my focus. I could understand people using it recreationally, but that's not my aim. But hordenine straight was one of the better things for my ADD. Actually, a liquid extract of barley grass powder which is where hordenine came from seemed even better, since I couldn't stand to eat that many pills. I think it may be worth considering trying hordenine, just to see what MAOIs will do for you, if you haven't done that yet.

Hordenine may be more sustainable than hard core pharmaceutical MAOIs because it's reversible while pharmaceuticals aren't. It will also slow the breakdown of caffiene, btw. I understand the large number of possible interactions, but the fact that it's reversible means that you can use it for a window of 1 or 2 hours between other meds.

I'm not sure what a safe level of hordenine is. There's some indication of toxicity in really high doses (.15% of diet seemed to lead to kidney lesions and sugar in the urine in voles, but that's a huge daily dose.) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7020159

Also, there's evidence that some cases of ADD are related to hyper-nutrient excretion. Green vegetable juicing works wonders for that. Fresh kale is the best. The bottled, refrigerated stuff isn't as good but it's more convenient.

RE: Nootropics - wiserd - 02-21-2014 1:04 AM

Chemicals like those found in the skins of blueberries may improve spatial memory in rodents.

E... would it be possible for you to summarize your current findings/experiments? I too find that stimulants in general relax me to the point where I can feel tired (Adderall is an exception and caffeine is a mixed bag). I believe I had luck with Huperzine but reading your comments freaks me out - I think I used it a few times a week for months on end - YIKES.

Anyhow, have you compiled a guide of what works and doesn't for you?

Can you share it?

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 07-02-2016 5:18 PM

No, I haven't compiled a guide, and I've tested so many things it would be extremely time-consuming to do so. N-acetyl Semax Amidate (for awareness expansion, improved behavioral conditioning, mood lift, and near-true photographic memory effects), low-dose MDMA (for quicker wit, physical motivation, and powerful behavioral conditioning), and Caffeine + NALT (from Ceretropic) are the best things I've found to date.

RE: Nootropics - ShadowX114 - 07-03-2016 8:24 AM

I find that caffeine alone simply wakes me up, but doesn't necessarily makes me focused. I'm still trying to figure out my optimal dosage because without caffeine, I just want to lay on the couch. With too much caffeine, I find it hard not to shake my legs when I'm stitting down. L-theanine helps as a combo; sometimes it gives a good buzz.

Adrafinil (sadly I can't get my hands on modafinil), increases my motivation to the point that I feel I can do everything but it's not healthy on the liver so it's not a long-term product....unless if you can get modafinil; depending on in which you country you live in.

I like Phenylpiracetam + choline .....almost never fails me. 1-3 times a week to avoid tolerance.

Coffee + red strain kratom = focus and bit of euphoria that helps with motivation.

RE: Nootropics - Ekscentra - 07-03-2016 2:09 PM

Ceretropic's Caffeine + NALT reduces the jitters without compromising on physical motivation. It's nicely focusing, but a bit of MDMA improves this substantially.
