For some background;
The stuff that causes oil and water to mix is called a surfactant. An emulsifier does something similar, except it turns oil into many small spheres suspended in solution rather than actually causing it to properly dissolve.

Links included below. sodium lauryl sulfate is a common surfactant in many perfumes and all detergents contain some form of surfactant but I don't think I want that.

I was wondering if anyone had particular ideas on how particular surfactants might improve or hurt the diffusion of scents or mones and which chemicals they used themselves. How will they interact with, or possibly serve as, fixatives? I'll do some testing myself once

I'm looking for something that tells me its ingredients and is as safe as possible on skin.

sugars and alkyl polyglycosides, Eucarol AGE (alkyl glucose ester), alkyl polypentosides, decyl polyglucose

http://www.environmentalhealthnews.org/e...rom-sugars
http://books.google.com/books/about/Suga...DrHUQQtAkC

Quote:The sugar surfactants outperform traditional surfactants such as SLES and SLS in terms of mildness, solubility of essential oils and the ability to clean at lower concentrations, says Anderson. The surfactants also outperform APGs in terms of higher foam, lower irritation, better solubility and provide thickening viscosity when combined with betaines.

... hmm... Apparently betaine is a surfactant. I have a jar of Betaine HCL somewhere. I guess I'll go with that for now if it works. But I may as well post, in case this is useful to anyone.]]>

I (and my father) can't stand 99% of colognes for men, they simply smell like perfume... I don't always want to smell like a woman, or metro at best.

I've got this old aftershave cologne I took from my grandfathers stash when he died, I love the way it smells. It's Jovan Ginseng (Not the NRG). I've smelled Jovan's current Ginseng NRG and it doesn't compare, this little 1/2oz bottle has been around longer than I have and I'm 26.

When I wear some Adidas cologne my friends' girlfriends compliment me, when I wear Jovan Ginseng their mothers compliment me. I'm not looking for cougars, but I like the status I get from this cologne. I swear It adds 20 years. There isn't much left, and I've been using it sparingly since '99 so I'm looking for a replacement.

I have a bunch of kid cologne (CK1, Adidas, etc) but I have nothing that can replace this when it's out.

Unrelated -- Women love when I wear my cheap Adidas cologne. It's not that good, it's not that fancy or expensive... But I get non-stop compliments when I wear it and a lot of lingering hugs. Not sure why, but it seems to really work for my chemistry I guess.]]>

I was wondering if anyone is acquainted with this niche house. I just recently bought some bottles and samples. I can say this is one of the best and reasonably price accessible niche perfume houses. I use colognes/perfumes with two main purposes: to enjoy them myself, and obviously as phero cover. My main complaint about the regular designer frags is that most of them don’t last on my skin or I just don’t plain like them. This niche house is rather special; most of their perfumes (EdP) have aoud in them. They have amazing projection and excellent longevity. They go amazing as phero covers, and most of them are serious head-turners and compliment getters by themselves.

So here are some of my review/impressions:

Aoud Musk: This one is definitely loud, masculine, and dark. The aoud note is there but does not stand out. Yet there is a note that makes it a bit creamy, but not sweet (saffron).
Projection:10/10
Longevity: 10hrs+

Black Musk: This one smells very similar to Black Aoud without the roses, and leather/musk instead. It still has the discernible aoud note. There is really nothing ‘black’ or ‘dark’ about it. It smells rather ‘fresh/musky’ as opposed to Aoud Musk. I really enjoy this one and goes great with most Pheromones. By itself it is a serious head-turner.
Projection: 8/10
Longevity: 9hrs+

Blue Amber: OMG!!! What a scent. This is an uncomplicated very simple scent. But this is what it makes it so alluring. Yes just amber, vanilla with some hints of lavender. Quite an addicting perfume. A beautiful lady came over to me to ask me what cologne I was wearing. She said it was ‘hypnotic’. I find it masculine but certainly see women wearing it too.
Projection: 8/10
Longevity: Ridiculous 24hrs+

Red Vetyver: Yes, it’s a twin of TdH. But I like this one better. Its TdH on steroids.
Projection: 10/10
Longevity: 9hrs+

Wild Aoud: The scent is hard to describe. But on my skin on the drydown it smells very similar to Creed’s Himalaya. This is a scent I loved but never lasted more than 2-3 hrs on my skin. Wild Aoud is a very good alternative.
Projection: 8/10
Longevity: 10hrs+

Woods & Spices: I really can’t describe this one very well either. It’s clean, fresh, and spicy. It is masculine to my nose. Projection and longevity are still to be tested

Golden Aoud: I think this is the best Aoud/Rose from Montale. Has some geranium and woods. I don’t get much of the pepper note that’s supposed to be in there (Jamaican capsicum). Very suitable for everyday wear.
Projection: 8/10
Longevity: 6 hours + (after 6th hour it becomes a skin scent that lasts for maybe another 5-6 hours).

Lime Aoud: A nice fresh aoud scent, yet with that medicinal vibe characteristic of Montale scents. I believe this has no real lime note in it, but it’s the combination of the rose and other notes that gives the lime scent. If I wouldn’t know this I would swear it had a lime in it.
Projection: 10/10
Longevity: 10 hours +

Anyway, anyone acquainted with this house? Any other comments/reviews?

Best,
Chaotic]]>

Today I was at a local perfume shop and discovered a new brand, Escentric Molecules. A consultant have told me about this line with obvious excitement, so I started looking for info in the Internet. People post really different opinions. Someone loves it, someone hates, and a lot of people don't feel the scent at all. The designer of perfume claims that this line of moleculas has pheromone-like effect, but I've never seen any mention about it on this site. Confused

Sooooooooooo.... I'm puzzled.
I have Molecule 02 on blotter. Sometimes I sniff this paper and... I dunnooo... It's fresh and simple, but puzzling. Something is lurking on the edge of my senses and I have kind of irritating feeling that some part of scent is hidden from me. Strange, huh? :blank:

----

I've found some general information about their six fragrances/moleculas (they have only 6 at the moment).

Molecule 01 is 100% of Iso E Super,
Escentric 01 is Iso E Super (65%) + fragrance.

Molecule 02 is 100% of Ambroxan,
Escentric 02 - Ambroxan with Muscone.

Molecule 03 is Vetiveryle Acetate (100%),
Escentric 03 is Vetiveryle Acetate (65%) with other components.

----

What I wanna ask:

Do you use them?
If yes, which one and does it have "pheromone-like effect"?
Do you think that they're attractive scents?

Thank you! Wink]]>

So, for a while now, I've been considering getting my "girlfriend" (it's not official at the moment due to things that happened in the past that make it inappropriate at the current time, but we are essentially together) a nice perfume for a while now. She knows that I love scents and have a lot of colognes and perfumes, and she recently wanted to smell them. The next day, she said she wanted to get a nice, "real" perfume for herself, as up to this point, she has been wearing cheap perfumes and body sprays which, while sometimes nice, simply lack the balance and complexity of a great scent. We both love Michael Storer's Kadota (green leaf, jammy fig, musk, tonka, date, sandalwood) which is delectable creamy fig scent that drives me wild. She also quite liked Storer's Stefanie (recreation of gardenia headspace) and Yvette (gourmand scent with vanilla, white chocolate, tarragon, and others). So, I was considering getting one of those, but first I just wanted to ask if you have any suggestions?]]>

I'm looking to have my beloved Aramis Surface matched, but I've never used a service like this before.

The first 3.4oz bottle goes for 60 bucks, but all bottles after that are 30. That's a better deal than the $300 sellers on ebay want.

If you're a "Pink Sugar" lover you MUST check this place out, pink sugar is one of their best-selling items. I always go back to this company for stuff and their prices are very affordable imho.

I still have a 10ml bottle of pink sugar which I bought from them more than a year ago and I still use it - smells like I first got it. Just store your oils in a dark/cool place and it should be good. The sillage is fantastic, I can smell it on me till the next morning. 1 dab of pink sugar on your wrists is usually enough - and I'm the type of person who slathers it on. Yep so if I say a dab is enough... a dab is good lol So I buy this one in the 2 oz containers for 10 bux it's a steal rather.

A few others that I love are "Amazed" and "Fall in love" they are both dupes of philosophy.

Amazed is more of a soft/clean scent on me, I liked to wear it when I'm out with a button-up blouse and black skirt. And for those who want a less sweet version of Pink Sugar with a more sophisticated feel, "Falling in love" is nice the cotton candy note is not too juvenile. Baby face is pretty nice too, I might get a bottle of that one later, and marshmallow fluff smells like the real thing... ok I could go on but I'll stop.

I've only tried a lot of their perfumes, but lotion-wise I bought a pink sugar body souffle and I liked it. But I'm not a lotion person lol so yep... sorry that's all I know Redface

Erk, I sound like I'm advertising, but no I have never received any big "free" stuff from them other than the cotton pad samples that are offered from their websites (which anybody can get). Packaging-wise it's not exciting but I couldn't careless. And their website design is not the best. And nope she does not drop in a few freebies. But a 10ml roll on for $6.00 it's not so bad.]]>

Anyone have any experience with them?
