Creating scented phero sprays & average dosing

First: SPRAYS

Disclaimer: I am a Love Potion junkie. I have only done this with Love Potion products and can only vouch for the effectiveness of the products I've used. I have not tried this with other vendors....yet...

I have been asked this often enough that I though it might be helpful to have it available here.

I refer to any unscented pheromone blend and an UN.

The only UNs that I have personally scented in the bottle they came in are the ones that I got in spray form and in alcohol, 60/40 alcohol to oil.

I have most of my UNs in oil and I convert them to sprays when I want to scent them, mostly because the UN oils last longer and I don't want to pin them down to one scent for the life of the bottle (yes, I WAY over think things LOL)

FOR THE UN SPRAYS

You can take a Love Potion trial sized vial at 1.5ml and lightly scent an entire 1oz spray bottle! (I didn't believe it until I tried it!) I did this with my Topper and Perfect Match and was genuinely surprised at how well the entire bottle was scented by such a little bit of perfumed oil! Since the sprays are alcohol based they blend nicely...no shaking required after first being mixed, though I would give them sit 2 to 24 hours to marinade and meld together.
*SPECIAL NOTE: If you have sprays in the silicone base, you will need to shake prior to each application as the oil and silicone do not meld together like the oil and alcohol do. But I've gotten into the habit of shaking everything anyway....

1.5ml will nicely, lightly, scent a 1oz spray, so if you want a stronger or truer scent then you would just increase the amount. The most I have used was with my Stone Cougar. I transferred some to a travel sized spray and used 2/3 Cougar to 1/3 fragrance oil and you would never know that it wasn't purchased that way! So if you were looking to "perfume" an entire bottle...
1oz = approx. 30ml. So 10ml of oil would scent a 1oz bottle of UN to a lovely, full bodied perfume. (I believe Love Potion even sells, or did, 1oz bottles of perfumer's alcohol at 2/3 full for customers to pour their favorite perfume oils in to create sprays)

If you have a bottle that is less than 2/3 full, you could "eyeball" about what 1/3 of that would be. I believe using more would just be unnecessary and maybe even wasteful of the perfume oil.

If your bottle is more than 2/3 full, you could pour in the perfume to "top it off" and see what you think.

I would let them "marinade" for at least an hour before wearing...over night is better, but if you can't wait...shake it good!lol! nothing awful will happen

NOW FOR MAKING UN OILS INTO SPRAYS

If you're just looking to scent an UN oil bottle, top it off with the fragrance oil of your choice and let "marinade". I have not done this myself because of what I mentioned above. 2/3 UN to 1/3 fragrance should do the trick.

If you're looking to transfer your oils into something else to create a spray here's the rule of thumb I use:

Whatever the container size, keep it at least 50/50 alcohol to oil so it will spray nicely. I've never gone higher at 40/60 (40 alcohol to 60 oil) but that's pushing a good spray consistency going heavier on the oil than the alcohol, truly 50/50 should be fine and I often do 60/40 (alcohol/oil).

SO whatever vessel you will be using, you want your fragranced phero to be potent enough to still work when you use it so you have to use enough OF it.

Step 1
1/3 of the container = UN phero blend in oil.

Step 2
Then (by eyeballing or math), building on the 1/3 phero blend already in the container, use you're fragrance oil to bring the container to half way full.

Step 3
Then top off with perfumer's alcohol and let "marinade" over night (or as above mentioned lol) and Wha-La!

But like I said, Love Potion has some supplies as well and I do get my little 5ml travel spray bottles from there, though I was told ebay may have them in bulk...I have SO many already I'm afraid of what I'll do if I find them in bulk so I haven't looked..but it's coming, I just know it...

Just another quick note...You will be diluting the potency of the UNs by doing this. Most UNs come in 1000mcg potencies unless otherwise noted on the site. So sprays would be about 2/3s as potent (as it's 2/3 spray and 1/3 oil) and oils 1/3 (as they will be 1/3 UN phero to 2/3 everything else).

1/3 potency (.333mcg) is what Love Potion uses in most of their fragranced phero blends. I have not had any of them work less effectively!

Now: DOSING

With rare exception, there are 1000mcg of Pheromones in an unscented blend and when we're looking at a 1oz spray bottle, Love Potion says you can get approx 200 sprays out of it.
SO that's 5mcg per spray (1000mcg/200) and 4 sprays is an average for many, so that's appox 20mcg per "dose" and that's a goodly dose I dare say.

Love Potion rollers come in 10ml bottles.

Now, how does that translate to a 10ml roller bottle? How much would we need to use to get that 20mcg dose?

The drop is standardized in the metric system to equal exactly 0.05 milliliters. That's 200 drops in 10mls of oil. That would make each drop about 5mcgs (1000mcg/200) and you would need about 4 drops to get that 20mcg dose.

NOW I broke out a dropper, yes, I broke down and did it. 4 drops is a CRAZY amount YO! A 5 inch strip from the roller bottle is WAY less than A drop! 4 drops totally coats my wrists and forearms - approx. 5inches by 2inches times 4! No wonder I've never OD'd, lol Now, eyeballing the roll on, knowing how much 4 drops is, I'd bet you could use up to 8 - YES 8 - 5 inch strips in various places and get CRAZY results. So I'm thinking 1/2 drop to each 5inch strip from a roller bottle.

Another really good question that was asked was this:

Do you think that simpler Pheromones with 2 ingredients or less hit less hard? Like is it better to layer?

Answer:
Neither.
It's not a matter of less of a hit or that layering is better. They all work just as they were intended.

With just 2 Pheromones it IS easier to gauge reaction because you are only gauging reaction to two things (ie Cuddle Bunny: Est & cops only = cuddly, feminine girlie, sweet lubbins) as apposed to how to gauge the reaction to something more complex (ie Gotcha!: Beta-AndrostAnol, Estratetraenol, Alpha-Androstenol, Beta-Androstenol, DHEAS, Alpha-THDOC, Allo-pregnanolone & Copulins)

BUUUUUUT

Once you figure out how people react to a particular blend, you can enhance that blend, say Gatcha!, by pairing something like CB (Est & cops) to add a little more girly, flirty, lubbins OR maybe Lace (A-nol & Est) to give it a girly flirty fun vibe

I ordered 2 sampler packs to get a better understanding of perfumerie , perfume notes and what works on my skin. I emailed LPMP and lo and behold the lovely Halo was there to answer all of my questions and concerns. One day Halo responded and sent me 3 emails answering information as soon as it was available. She did a fantastic job, I sent emails to her for the sampler pack and I made goofy mistakes with my emails but she never mentioned anything. I would send emails when I was super tired, right before bed. She sent my emails to Mara(The Creator) for her opinion on the questions that I asked.

I just got the box last night and it was caved in on one side, it got a good bashing. The packaging by the LPMP team however was fantastic nothing was damaged. I came back from a bar last night with a friend. I took the scents with me to a 24hour coney island place and I was buzzed enough to not care if someone noticed what I was doing. I opened a couple of the vials and I asked the waitress what she thought of Voracious. She said she didn't like but she gave me two extra sides with my food for free.That's a weird coincidence

I've never smelled artisan fragrances before and they smell a lot different than commercial perfumes. In general its a heavier scent and Love potions fragrances smell extremely different than commercial fragrances in 3 categories. On your Skin, In the bottle, perfume notes as time passes. As time passes its easy to tell that the fragrance smells different. Last night however I disliked almost all of the earth scents because they smelled sweet in the vial. It smelled like maple syrup, who knew that tobacco and Vanilla would have a maple syrup scent but it stops smelling like that on your skin after it dries down.

I liked the smell of the lighter fragrances out of the vials and a couple scents really stood out, I really liked nox. Nox however would smell a lot better on a woman than it would a man. It's a heavy fruity scent but after an hour or you can smell the dark resins that are in the description. When love potion fragrances have been on your skin they evolve into something different. I say evolve because it makes a significant difference compared to the perfumes that I have had.

If you want to Mix Love Potion scents with things you like go for it. I mixed UN with pheromones I added Prada for men too and it smelled amazing. It was fresh and dark and smelled it like it would pull people in for more. Because it hits you with a fresh and clean scent but then you smell the heavy tobacco scent later.

When I added the UN fragrance it sank to the bottom of the bottle so the fragrance had a higher density than the pheromones and cologne in that bottle until I shook the bottle to mix it.

Out of all the fragrances I wanted to sample I wanted to try Brother Brimstone the most and they unfortunately ran out of it. None of the spicy scents have let me down so far.

I will continue my review of Love Potion fragrances in the review section but thanks for the 2 forum freebies.

After looking over the website last night, I have to say it's almost utterly confusing to me. I am going to be ordering some sampler packs, but how the heck do you know if you are getting Pheromones or just scents? I have a rough idea of what is what but so many of the descriptions don't actually say if they do or don't contain Pheromones?

When I order any sampler pack, can I get a sample of ANYTHING? Even a few for the wife?

Then there is the Love Potion sampler, but does not tell me what I am getting just let's me add to the cart?
HELP!

I can see this is going to be a fun place to buy from, but need some direction first Lol.

Can we use LP fragrances to scent non LP products?

I feel like I'm cheating on Alpha Dream by asking this but I would like to know.

I've just ordered Exotique in Jasmine Nights (I went to Sephora and checked out Dior's Hypnotic Poison and it was a win) and have asked for samples of their other scents for future purchases BUT if I didn't find a fit and I went with unscented, could I use Love Potion fragrance oils to scent the Alpha Dream products?

Does anyone know if they would mesh well together or if it would just be a really bad idea?

NEW Men's Releases Nov. 2012

Hi guys, I just wanted to let you all know that there are a bunch of new releases for men at Love Potion. Great Working with LPMP

This post is really for the guys as most of the ladies know about and like LPMP. But I think most guys think of LPMP as just a site for women's perfumes and it is a lot more than that.

There are a several great things about working with LPMP.

1. You can get some very good pheromone products (both scented and unscented) as well as individual pheromones at competitive prices. <3 Throb and Super Sexy for Men have been winners for me with the Mrs. as you can read in my reviews. I am starting to experiment with some of the other formulas now but I expect them to be winners also given the fact several of the formulations come from a very successful individual who has his own popular line here. I will let you call and ask Mara yourself who it is.

2. If you call them you will probably talk to Mara herself unless she is super busy. Even then she has said hello and answered any questions before she said she had to run. If you catch her on a good day, she is happy to tell you all about what they do and give recommendations. You can tell you are talking to someone who loves and cares about what they do.

3. You can order sample packs (10 samples) of both plain colognes and phero-enhanced colognes at a very reasonable price. The colognes are concentrated and these are large 1.5 ml sample vials. In other words there is enough cologne for several trial runs and certainly enough to figure out if you and/or the SO really like it. If you are a guy, you can pretty much name all 10 samples as there are way more female colognes than male colognes. She will let you order 2 sample packs. After that, individual small samples are cheap.

4. They do a lot of custom work. If you find a cologne you really like, they will spike it for you with whichever Pheromones or phero blends you like. And that includes copulins.

5. There are very good descriptions of the colognes and plenty of reviews if you have any questions.

6. They always throw in freebie samples. And you can earn extra freebie samples by being active on the boards with reviews. Check out Mara's post for the details.

7. There is a very active and honest trading post. Most of what is for trade are female scents as that is the majority of LPMP's business. But there are male colognes there and if you do not see what you are looking for quite often you can just ask "looking for X" and someone will have a bottle they will trade or sell at a very reasonable price via paypal or an LPMP gift certficate. I have never lost a dime and the ladies usually throw in a couple small samples too to sweeten the deal for you.

8. Mara will make a custom-designed cologne for you at pretty much the same price as one of her regular colognes. You tell her what you want overall and what notes you are looking for and she will do the rest. I had one done (not gonna tell you which one!) and it turned out great. Talk about a scent no one else has! You know - I like my original Armani but he won't take custom orders. LPMP does.

9. Although it is a very female oriented board, men are very welcome. In fact a man's perspective on most things is not only welcome but in many cases sought after. They are looking for more guys to build up reviews from a male perspective. I am also sure from a business stand-point, if there were more guys, Mara would brew more men's colognes. Off-color humor is common as long as it is not insulting.

Finally, for you guys with wives or SOs who might look at your phero usage with a jaundiced eye, the LPMP boards might be a great way to get her involved with scents and pheromones. Look at her perfumes, order her something she would like from LPMP (Mara & the ladies on the boards will be happy to help), show her online where it came from, and let her see that plenty of women use Pheromones too for work and play.

This post is not meant to be critical of or imply bad service from any other company or individual. I have said straight up before I do not get involved in that kind of drama. It is meant to highlight a very good company that often gets overlooked by the guys because it has a female-oriented flavor. The service and products here are every bit as solid as any of the companies listed on PT. Plus they can do a few things that others do not. LPMP is well worth a serious look and some experimentation.
