Interesting idea incorporating the ideas of color therapy. This is an area I have meant to study at various times but haven't gotten to. I'm really not sure if there's any science behind it at this point, but it has been referred to by a variety of traditional systems.

Tree of life...

Here's a good one that includes correspondences to the tarot - http://www.donaldtyson.com/treeseph.html

There are color associations with each sephiroth and path as well. Here's a good chart of the sephiroth with associations to color, chakra, astrological sign, etc - http://www.kheper.net/topics/Hermeticism/Qabalah.htm

Here's one that's tough to read but has a lot of info on it - http://esotericgoldendawn.files.wordpres...f-life.jpg

There are a bunch more images out there if you search.

Interesting - that Golden Dawn Tree reminds me of a Tarot layout I used to do when I was a teen, I don't remember much past the shape but I did use a Crowley deck for it, beautiful artwork.

Well the associations for color, scent, visual image, planets, plants, metals, jewels, creatures, and tools (??) seem to be present, so how would attributes of pheromones map to the ten Sefiroths?

The sephira Daath , meaning Knowledge is really a non-sephira or an invisible sephira. It is also known as the Abyss and is below Chokmah and Binah, between the other sephiroth of the Tree of Life. It is also on the Middle Pillar of the Tree of Life between Tiphareth and Kether. This invisible sephira has no attributions of Divine Name or Angelic Choir, and is often not shown on some representations of the Tree of Life.

There is still some information that is relevant to Daath. Daath is produced from the conjunction of Chokmah and Binah, which are Wisdom and Understanding. It is in this invisible sephira Daath (Knowledge), which Chokmah (Wisdom) and Binah (Understanding) combine with what is known as the Beautiful Path (Tiphareth). This is the concealed or hidden concept that which pervades the whole emanation.[18] Another way to say this is that without Knowledge, the student can not have Understanding and Wisdom, as Knowledge helps to better understand a situation or thing, and to give the student a better opportunity in making the wise choice.

OK so here is a draft of the structure of an information map for a pheromone research database I am planning to build and make available online for everyone to use - I'd like to make it so that it uses a voting system so that if an effect is reported then the statistical validity of the claim can be mined from the user-provided input. I'm not saying this will be very scientific, but I am aiming to make it web-based so that all of the text-only info that folks are putting in the forums can be consolidated into a database that will be useful for searching and reporting. Not sure what web-based database system I'll use yet but this info map graph is a sketchpad for the data points to be captured so far.

The data once input can also be used to populate a "Tree of Life" type view that would be generated from data rather than having to be hand-drawn and updated.

Any and all ideas welcome, this is just the beginning of a taxonomy/ontology for a pheromone research database.

Awesome idea! If you've got the chops to build the db system you describe I think it could really benefit the community a lot. You should PM Mark; he may have some insight about the technical aspects & how this could fit into some other projects that are in the works.

I wonder what the biological parameters/receptors influenced would be for various 'mones' would be. I realize that most of the categories mentioned have subtypes (GABA-a GABA-b etc. ) but I haven't learned to parse things so finely yet.

Some relevant receptors would be;
NMDA
GABAergic
Dopaminergic
Histaminergic
Serontonergic (5-HT)
Cannabanoid
Muscarinergic acetylcholine
Nicotinic acetylcholine
Androgenic
Estrogenic

And probably some others I've missed.
Interaction could be agonistic or antagonistic. Competitive, non-competitive, etc.

Perhaps that's too sterile for people's tastes, but it might have more predictive value and allow us to apply existing peer-reviewed research.

Though I get the feeling that there's a favoring of more esoteric language.
