Copulins

Presumably, the effect is driven by increases in testosterone like those associated with the copulin formula. It would have been great to disassociate the fecal connection from these odors, but it may not represent a problem for those who understand how hormone metabolism works.

My point here is that it takes only a few active ingredients in the mixture, which means there are likely to be only a few copulins and only a few human pheromones. It appears to be the relative concentrations of the pheromones that is important to their effect on hormones and their affect on behavior. Highest concentrations do not equate with beneficial affects.

Thank you very much Mr Kohl! Any light shed on how copulins may work is much appreciated!

What I hope to encourage is a listing of what "copulins" are in products that claim to contain them. Once listed, there is the possibility of testing for behavioral affect. With the formula used by Astrid Juette, we found only a trend associated with men's perception. Therefore, it seems most appropriate to continue work with the androsterone /androstenol mixture that we showed increased observed flirtatious behavior and self-reported levels of attraction in study of college women.

You make an interesting point about relative concentrations. Do you have a moment to talk about how you arrived at your 4:1 nol:Androsterone ratio?

More than 1 mg/ml androsterone moves ratings of affect from pleasant to aversive -- even when no associated odor was identified/reported. More than 4 mg/ml androstenol might be expected to result in a change in perception (if any) from musky to urinous because the metabolism of androstenol to androstenone by skin bacteria does much the same thing.
