You can't force someone to share their knowledge and when you do usually you don't get anything valuable. The most clever people will share their story anyway.
We're not forcing anybody to share anything, just limiting the more private information shared by our members to those that look like their going to stick around and are also sharing.
I've had several members PM me about how it's not our right to hide or prevent them from reading anything, and 1 dupe who'd been a member for over a year and never made a single post or even thanked anyone who wrote after we limited Journal access to tell me that I had no right to block access to Journals and that if I wanted to change forum policies I needed to give 90 days notice.
To be blunt, I don't care what a newbie or someone who's never shared anything thinks. I care about our members privacy and ability to share information that they don't want just anybody to be able to log in and read. And, if I see someone new making garbage posts just for the sake of posting, they aren't likely to ever see Journals.

Well thundr, I hate to break it to you but your Journal is actually sent in PDF format to every new member upon registration.
Stop striving for PERFECTION, because the closer you get to achieving it the further the goalposts move away. Instead, concentrate on PROGRESS, because you that's a goal you can meet and surpass every day!
Nobody changes until the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change....

You have every right to do that in my opinion. You are the admin after all. Time will tell if your strategy is good or not. People will run or come. For now I'm very interested in what's in there and I think I have valuable information to share also.
I'm still a newbie in the pheromone world so I will certainly do some mistake. I'm here to learn.
But I think sometimes you push the limit when handling issue on the forum and you seems to recognize it (I used the word seems here). I have read some post and people commenting your way of doing things. And honestly I'm little lost I'm don't know yet but I'm surprised. I know not everyone is going to accept this way of talking, handling arguments . (I'm not talking about the issue with preventing people from reading journal here, I agree with you on that)
I have read the Kimba's Introduction thread and I was very surprised that he was "attacked" in this manner for example. I don't know which one was telling the truth but to me the issue wasn't discuss in a professional/normal way. To me he was accused without evidence or little evidence. This could have been resolved in a better way without creating all this "mess".
Just my "honest" opinion. What I have notice, take it as some feedback. I don't want to create a war here. It's just what I have notice so maybe I'm completely wrong.
