Internet data allowance

Even after a couple years after this internet policy had begun, we had never had any overage data charges because we didn't go over the data cap, but recently, AT&T told my mother that our internet had gone over the data limit and we were charged for the overage, not sure how much. I found that it is not just just AT&T, almost all internet services had become like this.

Taking a trip down the memory lane, I remember the good old days when there is no data allowance and we could use the internet freely for $20-$30 a month, and without the fear of being charged extra.

ISPs using this method to get rich, or has bandwidth become a scarce resource? Either way, it could be a nuisance to some people.

Products I own:
Alpha Dream: Glace
Liquid Alchemy Labs: Overdose, SXD-9, Wolf scented, Aqua Vitae Unscented (Samples: Aqua Vitae scented, Asian for Asian Men, Hypnotica, Primitive, Dirty Primitive)
PheromoneXS: CohesionXS, ExoticaXS (Samples: AscendXS, EvolveXS, TabooXS, Xist)

I remember when living in Australia we had some good unlimited plans that ranged from $40-$60/month.

It's definitely a revenue tactic, as in the past with shower internet and less multimedia, there was no point in specifying charges. However with broadband and everybody streaming, downloading etc it's an excellent revenue source.

Unlimited plans are making their way here in Canada, but I think they're pricey. Hopefully with time they'll go down.

Don't get me started on mobile data though... Total crap here in Canada!

If you can even find an unlimited data plan nowadays, get it!!(as long as you can afford it) It doesn't matter how much they cost, you will be glad that you did and don't have to worry about going over the limit. I think it might be economical to have an unlimited plan now, think about it, all those downloading you are doing, and those 1080p HD videos you are streaming, you will be going over the limit before you knew it. It won't be cheap after you went over the data cap. Here in US is $10 for each extra 50GB(varying from service to service), with 150GB-300GB as the allowance. If you live alone, it is enough, but for a family, it is not.

Not to mention that they might lower the data cap in the future if they see that they are making more money with this tactic.
