Update:

Sylvamber, Hedione HC and Perfumers Alcohol are on their way. I'm still looking for a source for Madranol, and I'll order some DPG soon.

Update on my cover scent project:

I find that gels are hard to cover, especially if they contain Androstenone. Smelling like None is not acceptable to me at all. A regular eau de toilette wears off after 3 hours. Then I and others around me can smell the None. I have some One Million by Paco Rabanne, but the scent is so loud and intrusive that people have commented on it. Also, if conditions are wrong or if I don't cover every square inch of the gel, the None comes through eventually. This is an issue because anything over 1 spray (really half a spray is best) of this stuff is gagworthy. I want a cover that is light enough that I can spray over a large surface area without becoming overpowering but last long enough that it can cover gels all day.

I mixed 1 mL each of Iso E Super in DPG, pure DPG, and perfumer's alcohol in a bottle and then added 3 drops of Aventus type fragrance oils from the Fragrance Shop. It leaves a DPG residue on my skin for over an hour, because I didn't want to rub it in. The scent is definitely Aventus. It has much more staying power than a regular eau de toilette, and I can smell it from my wrists as I go about my day for 3 or 4 hours after application. After 9 hours, I can still smell it from 3 inches away from my skin. It covers the None from half a pump of Kane this entire time. Diffusion isn't hampered. One kid confronted me about something, and he really regretted it once he got a whiff if you know what I mean lol. I was being kind of a jerk, too, but he all but apologized for saying something about it. However I can't say for sure that it _enhances_ diffusion. The scent seems to cling to my skin. It isn't intrusive or loud. It's a light scent but an adequate cover.

Not perfect, but this was the thing I was going for. It's definitely something that is a reliable cover for all kinds of situations, doesn't hinder pheromone diffusion, and is light enough to be used at work or really any situation every day.

I've been layering Iso E under my Aventus oil from TFS and it really does a great job of aiding in longevity and diffusion. Glad you found a cover that works for you!

I put Iso E under every app. It seems I have a pretty high tolerance for the stuff, and to be honest, can't smell much of anything from it. I wonder if other people smell a vast cedar forest with peppers growing on the forest floor when I pass by them.

Intense.

lol

I smell it, but it's very light. It seems to project different things more or less, maybe depending on molecular weight or skin chemistry.

i bought a knock off of ADG from walmart called G-Eau. I find it a very nice subtle clean fragrance for work. I spray ISOe first, then spray the G-Eau on top. I find the ISOe really helps the longevity as I can still smell the G-Eau on my neck at the end of the day. I find the ISOe also adds to the fragrance that makes it a little better than just the G-Eau by itself. I've gotten comments that i smell yummy when wearing this.... so i told her .... i taste even better!!!

not too bad for 8$ for 100ml

Correct a fool and he will hate you; correct a wise man and he will appreciate you

Sylvamber is extremely impressive. It gives the most rounded IES-like image I've smelt thus far whilst smoothing out the edges and providing a more elegant air.

The only downside is the fact that I'm getting a slight headache right now. This stuff is potent! Even a small dot at the tip of a toothpick is enough to make any amount of IES cringe. I'm going to need maybe 10-15% this amount. 6 drops MAX into a 1oz spray bottle should be plenty. I'll be going with 3 drops just to be on the safe side.

Sounds very interesting! I'm going to have to look into that when I have a few extra funds lying around.

http://www.creatingperfume.com/sylvamberdrt.aspx

I went for the 1/2oz at full strength, but given its potency, a 50% dilution should be all you need. At this level of potency, a 1% dilution at full-strength should be more than enough. You might go up to 4% if necessary. I plan to start at 1%.

Ultimately, it comes out to be even more economical than ISO E Super. Timbersilk lacked the basenote presence and diffusive capabilities of IES, hence why I'd always use it with IES. Sylvamber is a full-on replacement of both materials!

I have Hedione HC and Madranol on hand, but am still looking into a source for spray atomizers. I'm looking for BPA-free atomizers, and the shipping costs have been ridiculous so far. I've contacted one source that sells in bulk. Perhaps they'll be willing to sell me a smaller amount.

When I used ISO E Super, I'd get olfactory fatigue within 10 minutes and remain unable to smell this incredible material for hours on end. With Sylvamber, I'm yet to experience a single hint of olfactory fatigue even 2 hours in. The headache has long since faded, but I still plan to use less from now on.
