Master List Of Suspected Human Pheromones
02-09-2011 12:52 AM

I'm interested in getting together a master list of molecules. Below is what I've got so far. Please let me know if you are aware of any others.

Update 4/6/2011 - I'm also going to start linking to suppliers of these molecules. That way it'll be easy to have the links all in one place, and will hopefully give our suppliers incentive to keep adding more molecules to their offerings. Thanks for helping advance the art of alchemy, guys!

Items in bold are pheromones which users on this forum and/or other forums have tested and reported positive results with.

”Pheromones are defined as substances which are secreted to the outside by an individual and received by a second individual of the same species, in which they release a specific reaction, for example, a definite behavior, or a developmental process.” http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/13622694

If you change the definition, you could conceivable call virtually any chemical a pheromone. If you stick with the "same species" requirement you are required to show that a chemical or mixture of chemicals has an effect on hormones, because an effect on hormones during a developmental process is required to link the mixture to any behavioral affect.

Those who have been exposed to rodent (e.g., hamster) vaginal secretions would reinforce use of the original definition requiring species specificity, as would most people who have been exposed to the concentrate of what has become known as copulins.

I am interested in seeing the reason that any of the chemicals on the list you are compiling are suspected to be human pheromones. Without some indication in this regard, the list is merely a list of chemicals on the research section of this forum. Not that there's anything wrong with that. You must start somewhere. For example, in 1982 and in this post, I started with the 1959 definition.

I'm not particularly interested in preserving a tentative definition posited by scientists in an unduly slow-moving area of research. I'm interested in finding chemicals that produce behavioral effects in the real world.

As for the same-species requirement, I'm really not sure why a person's body would be able to use organs from a pig or a chimp, but not be able to respond to certain chemosignals endogenous to those creatures.

"Active Human Chemosignals" may be a more scientifically acceptable term, but the people I talk to all call them pheromones so I don't much care what the medical community prefers. It's clear enough to me that there are many, many more effective, usable chemosignals than have been published on (e.g. all the Androtics putatives that we regretfully have no names for.) My intention is to eventually acquire and test these substances for myself.

I commend you for your efforts. It's taken nearly two decades for me to show in a scientific study that a mixture of androstenol and androsterone influences women's observed flirtatious behaviors, and self reported level of attraction during a 15 minute social interaction. Obviously, you are right about this being an unduly slow-moving area of research. But the pace should begin to improve soon. Hopefully we won't need to wait another 20 years to compare notes/publications/or whatever moves us forward. Your comments about tissue type similarities are particularly pertinent in this regard.

Two more:

Methoxyandrosterone
Epoxyestratrienol

I'll add them to the top list if/when the forum will let me edit the first post in the thread. Pioneer

You should not have a problem editing any of your posts. Are you getting an error message and if so what does it say?

Got it, that was Twitter spitting back the error because the thread tweet hadn't propagated accross all their servers. I deleted the tweet and you should have no problem editing now.

Thanks, Mark. I figured that was what it was.

I've now updated the master list with the two extras.
