Does anyone think Melanin (the skin pigment) could be used as a pheromone? It may seem a bit odd but I have a hunch about this one.

There's many theories on Melanin around, f.e http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanin_theory which is mainly used to advocate afrocentricism.

I have a bottle of about 10ml melanin here, used for injections that give the person a more colored tint (like doing a tan) and also increase skin smoothness etc, about the best quality you can get on the streets here. How do I go about testing this? dissolve in alcohol like the usual method?

Sorry if you know all this already but if you don't it is critical info:

The homebrew/DIY protocol on a number of threads in the forums is probably the way to go - get some small 5-10 ml containers with caps (the ones for tattoo ink and fingernail salon colors work great) and try a serial dilution - one 5-10 ml blend to be your starting stock solution of full strength, take half of that and put into the next container and dilute by half, repeat until you get down to something like 1-5 mcg per dose (spray/drop) or run out of interest...

You need to know the concentration of your melanin (AKA stock solution) to know what you will have each time you dilute it. You can do the dilution and figure out the concentration later, just label everything with painter's tape (the blue tape) and a sharpie so you keep track of what you are using.

Dilute with Everclear (190 proof grain ethanol AKA ethyl alcohol AKA EtOH) - the droppers from the pharmacy will have 1/2 ml markers on them which should be fine for homebrew, just use separate droppers for the alcohol and stock solution and each of the diluted solutions. Cleaning your equipment with hot soapy water then the strongest isopropyl (uscented rubbing) alcohol you can find will get them clean enough again - I use the bottle brushes for cleaning baby feeding bottles - tiny and cheap!

Once it is diluted it will need something to keep it from flying away as quickly as the alcohol evaporates - the homebrew/DIY threads have tons of instructions and I won't attempt to repeat all that info, but some type of oil or DPG will slow the diffusion to an acceptable level.

Melanotan II (i/mɛˈlænɵtæn/) developed at the University of Arizona is a synthetic analog of the naturally occurring melanocortin peptide hormone alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH) that in usage has been shown to have melanogenesis (tanning) and aphrodisiac effects in preliminary studies and clinical trials.[1][2][3] It is a cyclic lactam analog of α-MSH with the amino acid sequence Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-NH2.

Of interest to anyone who has a reichian/jungian psychology background:
Melanotan II has tanning activity in humans given only 5 low doses every other day by subcutaneous injection." The side effects reported were mild nausea and a "stretching and yawning complex" that correlated with spontaneous penile erections.[13]

Yikes sounds like horrid stuff - I'd just chalk it up to getting ripped off and throw it away, you have no way to know what it really is, might be toxic waste...

You might be able to mist Melanotan II, but it looks far too big to fly on its own. Molar mass of 1024 compared to androstanes which are under 300. (Testosterone is Mol. mass 288.42, for instance)

OK, I found this thread when I just did a search for Melanotan. I was thinking about it because I'm going on a cruise and read that it will help you tan alot faster. In my case it is getting tan enough to go out and tan, I'm pretty pale right now. So about 2 hours ago I gave myself a 2mg dose of Melanotan II (from labpe.com) and well, for the last 90 minutes i haven't felt tanner, but I've had a full stregth erection. And even funnier, I've been stretching alot. Like I feel like stretching all the time, and yawning while I do it. So the fact that it was mentioned about the stretching/yawning was pretty funny.

PT-141 has been marketed as a aphrodisiac for women. They have a nasal spray bottle and you have to snort it like saline for sinus medicine.

The PT-141 takes twice as much if administered nasally compared to subcutaneous injection. Women 1mg subq vs 2mg nasally. Men 2mg subq vs. 4?mg nasally? At $12/10mg powder it gets expensive because you have to buy the saline and sprayer or syringe, but I must say that when my wife used 1mg of PT-141 at night she woke up really horny, like really really horny.

So read up on it, but the fact that it takes 2mg directly up the nostrils sounds like it may not be potent enough for pheromone usage in the mcg range.

But TOTH, how did this relate to Jungian psychology?

ok, just an update, 2mg of Melanotan II at 1:30pm yesterday caused an erection that lasted from 2:30-5:10pm that's 2h40min. And it ended only only to start up again at 5:20pm-5:40pm luckily that one ended quick due to basketball practice, I think the excercise had something to do with it. But as soon as practice was over it was back. So from 6:20pm to 10pm another 2h40min 100% erection. Then from 10pm-12midnight it was just a plump 50% erection. After midnight I was lucky and limp. I had a big headache around4:30pm-5:30pm that some ibuprofen helped, the headache was a real pain.

I don't know about pheromone activity, but as labeled for tanning - who knows yet, but the ed type effect is really there, REALLY there. Not that I have ed, but along those lines anyway.

So I finished all 10mg of melanotan, and let me tell you about some results.
I am tanner. but some freckles went darn near close to black, just a few, but it was random which ones went darker.
I used 2mg, 1mg, 1mg, 2mg, 2mg 2mg doses. about every other day.
on the first one I reported erection results as well, but the 2nd, 3rd, 4th (1mg, 1mg, 2mg) I didn't get the same effect. I think this was due to using a MAX MAN pill the day before my first trial of Melanotan II, some residual MaxMan in my system worked with the MTII for super erection purposes. I tried taking a MaxMan with the 5th & 6th doses and got the super erection effect again. It takes 1-2 hours this time to start, but lasted about 10 hours of multiple on and off erections at 100%. My wife got mad as sex 5 times in one day was too much in her opinion. I have to agree, her opinion was that 5x a day is too much, my opinion would be as many times as your wife likes it is good - because if it goes beyond that and she gets mad, you're gonna get revenged later, like cut off. Not that I would know anything about that.

So, I'm ~195 pounds, and 2mg would have the effect with a MaxMan pill (1x small black + 1x white capsule). If this helps anyone. I also injected subcutaneously next to my belly button.

M2 injections can lead to a might fun and interesting weekend if you are with someone that enjoys things as much and as often as you do and CAN as a side effect LOL

So after I finished all 10mg of melanotan

I tried PT-141, it worked very similar to melanotan II, just without the need to stretch side effect.
I used a MAX MAN pill along with it, and after about an hour, the next 10 hours were full of erections.

So, again, I'm ~195 pounds, and 2mg would have the effect with a MaxMan pill (1x small black + 1x white capsule). If this helps anyone. I also injected subcutaneously next to my belly button.
