Hello All,
While I'm relatively new to PheroTruth and the phero scene in general, I've been quietly reading as much as I can about everything I can. I happened upon LPMP Pheromones first and have stuck with them since; I think they are great and the company seems very authentic and caring.

Here is my BIG question (and please forgive my ignorance of any previous posts about the subject): What is the process of ensuring product safety across all pheromone manufacturers, in particular Stone Labs, which LPMP apparently uses?

These synthetic molecules that I put on my skin, or that waft into my lungs and are inevitably taken up into my blood stream...have they been tested and found to be as harmless as their naturally occurring counterparts? This is a very different question from research on social/sexual effects, which is plentifully evident. I'm a scientist, and as such, I am very twitchy and nervous when I can't find the research that went into creating and testing these synthetic molecules both for their exact chemical match to the natural molecules AND the purity of the molecules (chirality, by-products, etc).

I really hope somebody can put my mind at ease here.

Presumably, these chemicals are synthesized by Sigma Aldrich or other reputable chemical manufacturers. There can always get mistakes in synthesis which are difficult to account for. Also, there's no telling where a company sources their materials, and they may be using anonymous labs in China.

Presuming this also, but there have been clinical studies using these molecules. It would be a serious ethical oversight for institutional scientists to use unproven, toxic compounds in their studies. The studies do not use natural versions of the molecules, but they use synthetic ones, just like Stone Labs or anyone else.

The biggest reassurance you can expect as far as safety is that the quantities used in pheromone blends are tiny, tiny, tiny. 5 mcg (that's micrograms, a millionth of a gram) per drop is around the average for most of these molecules. And when you consider that most of the pheromones are diffusing into the air in random directions over a period of many hours, you can see that there really is only a tiny amount entering your body at all. As a scientist, I'm sure you can appreciate what a tiny scale we're working with here. The pheromones themselves do not enter the serum and affect a person's body chemistry in the same way that a testosterone patch or drug infusion would. They seem to act through a different pathway that only requires tiny amounts.

Thank you NP17.

I'm afraid I'll have to live without knowing. They way I think about it is: if you think of prescription and over the counter drugs, each pill has minute amounts of an active compound, just like Pheromones. And Pheromones are biologically active molecules. In my mind, that makes them on par with medication, and as such, they should be just as rigorously tested for both short and long term effects. But it seems to me (and I may be totally wrong) that they fall into the synthetic perfume compound category, which is barely tested for safety.

And just to clarify, I'm not asking because I'm on the brink of stopping using pheromones and throwing them all away. Hell no! Hahaha, honestly, even if I found out that they're worse for my health than, say, alcoholism, their benefit to my life would still outweigh their detriment. It's just that, darn it, I'd like to have the power to make that call myself, you know?
