For school, I can personally vouch for smell and taste aiding to memory. There was a little trick we used which when we studied, we would chew a certain flavor of gum and wear a type of cologne, then when we went to take the test we would chew the same gum and wear the same cologne. Memory recall and test scores showed a solid difference in my case ^^
