The Next Generation . . .

The Next Generation . . .

I’m an open source type of guy, so I’m sharing this based upon the theory that while other companies may copy last year’s ideas, they won’t be able to keep up with newer ones..

Introducing a new theory in the molecular evolution of pheromones – “Molecular Volatility Enhancement by Simplification”

The concept is simple – the more carbons and hydrogens contained within a substance, the lower the volatility. Volatility is primal to the mechanism of action of human pheromones.

Pheromones (human) are dry, crystalline substances which do not easily evaporate into the air. Most insect pheromones however are Volatile Organic Compounds (light oils) which are easily airborne. Why are insect pheromones capable of influencing other members of a species from up to miles away? . . . Volatility!

When you consider Receptor Theory, and the lock-and-key mechanism of substances, you can imagine that pheromone receptors are like a lock of a specific size and shape, which are unlocked by keys - the keys are molecules of a certain size and shape, which fit into the receptor just like a key fits into a lock, and opens it.

Think of the molecule and the shape of it as if it were a key. The key has to have certain fingers (or “teeth”) in specific locations to open the lock. However, if a key has more fingers, or “teeth” than necessary, the lock may not notice them, and may open anyway considering the grooves are the same.

Going back to the concept of Volatility, I believe that human pheromone compounds are larger and more complicated than necessary to activate the pheromone receptors (and essentially open the lock), and this unnecessary bulkiness of the compound results in a substance which is not easily evaporated, and therefore much less effective and efficient than theoretically possible.

The procedure tied into this hypothesis is to simplify the pheromone molecules, and remove unnecessary bulk, making the compound far more volatile.

Introducing the concept of SK-6,7,15 – which is derived from Androstadienone. From my calculations, the compound would be an oil (like insect pheromones), and have many, many times the range of traditional pheromones, if the effect of the compound is similar (which I believe it may be with some tweaking)…

This concept was born out of the relationship on a molecular level between diethylstilbestrol and estradiol. They both activate the same receptors, except that one is far more simple and volatile than the other (notwithstanding the problems associated with diethylstilbestrol).

Testing on this theory will begin in the next six or seven months, after we have our chemist friends develop a way to synthesize this.

Your very well appreciated support of Alpha Dream funds this research, and drives my ultimate ambition to bring to you all new pheromone technologies. Whatever valuable findings there are will always be yours to purchase, and open source.

With Volitility being discussed:

If it is too volitile, you may fill a room with trace amounts of 'mones faster.

This is good if you are in a situation where you want to affect everyone equally, like livening up a party.

This is bad if you want everyone to notice you, If your "Phero-Cloud" spreads to encompass everyone, you may lose your signature and it will appear as if everyone has that signature. Leading all the chicks to think that it's the good looking guy over there that they want instead of old Pheromone pumping me, and never get close enough to see the super strong cloud around the source who is wearing the 'Mones.

With size being a factor with 'Mones:
I posted something on this around a week ago, citing an animal pheromone that was the heaviest on pherobase.
"Post: #8RE: Correlations Between Putatives 02-06-2012 11:13 AM " about mass and diffusion of molecules.

Some larger molecules evaporate at lower temperatures than smaller molecules. (Evaporate is different than diffuse, solids can diffuse and don't need to change phase to gas.)

Surface tension can contribute enormously to diffusion as well, Polar molecules can have much higher surface tension, this is not based on mass, but polar charges on different parts of a molecule's shape.

And not all pheromones are small, I searched this site looking for an actual pheromone that was heavier than Oxytocin, but didn't find one, this one was the heaviest that I found.
13,17-Dimethylpentatetracontane that has a Molecular Weight of 661.27g/mol, it is a "Walking Stick" pheromone.
http://www.pherobase.com/database/compou...cresol.php

Lastly, diffusion is not always necessary:
This picture pissed off JKV awhile ago when I posted it in a thread where I was asking him questions. He wouldn't reply after I included it. But if animals communicate with pheromones, some may be small and airborne, while others are heavy and lay right on the skin, not going too far. You have to be real close to sniff them. Which could be cool if you are in bed with your wife, real close, then she gets all turned on at close range. But this picture of the dogs, gee whiz, dogs have awesome sense of smell, there is logic in the fact that they have to get this close to smell something, the logic is that some Pheromones are heavy and don't get airborne, so you have to get real close to smell them. (There is the other theory of course, where dogs just like the smell of terds and want a stronger dose, probably some of this gross side too.)

Wow, good luck with the research! Thank you for the detail! I enjoy following peoples logic, like with the diethylstilbestrol and estradiol deduction you made.

I'll do my best to support your research Wink Good

Huge range surely is a benefit. Though the question is if others can attribute those phero properties to the wearer of a phero cologne.

The concentration of those pheromones would still be much higher in close proximity to the wearer. So it will probably work.

Though the only way to really find out probably is to just test it.

I can see a huge upside to increasing range with certain products for sure. I think a pheromone that has increased range when used in a combination with some that are more potent in close proximity would be a killer combination. You would have the double edged sword of increased projection that excites what ever attitude you are looking to promote while having some that are more focused once that person moves closer in proximity to you and realizes that it is you that has excited his, or her senses in the room. I do agree that something that projects broader without the ability for that person to find you is not as beneficial as they might become aware of your projection, but not know who is exciting their senses.

If nothing else that is exciting research and I am looking forward to reading the results and hopefully helping experiment with the end product down the line. The thirst for knowledge and the quest to find it is what makes science so alluring and exciting. Best of luck in the research and for being willing to expand the boundaries and not just sit back on the success of the past.

Chris,

Is there any possibility that simplifying molecules in this manner could have adverse effects? Most human pheromones as we conceive them are steroids. Due to their size and structure, they are non-polar and thus do no pass easily through cell membranes or the blood-brain barrier. However, with smaller numbers of carbon and hydrogen atoms lead to the increased likelihood of simplified pheromones being polar; these molecules might then work their way into cells or pass into the brain where they could have undesired effects. We typically use pheromones at very small concentrations which may not cause problems, but obviously safety is a big concern for you and everyone involved, so I would like to raise the question.
