These days I feel like I mindlessly waste my free time reading websites and checking the news. I really want to put this time to more productive use. My biggest time-wasters are the following in no particular order.

Free time is so limited and I want to put my time to more productive use. I'll have the intention to only spend 10 minutes on this sort of thing in a day but in a moment of mindless weakness I'll be checking these things and my free time is wasted.

Has anyone else successfully eliminated bad habits like this? How did you do it?

Yes, but ended up getting sidetracked by other
timewasters. Me thinkin only way is ta lock the phone and
computer in safe and get to living and loving.

Mines Kdramas seriously. I just need to turn off the TV and work on my stories. I did successfully beat the WOW addiction. I just stopped paying for the subscription. That was easy but the TV is readily available haha

To your question, time management is key. I keep a schedule and a to-do list for every week. I don't start wasting time watching movies, podcasts etc until after work, the gym and any outstanding chores which is usually after 8 in the afternoon.

When you start a new habit ease yourself into it. If you take on too much it's likely you'll be discouraged. Track your progress and keep the momentum going. Break a big goal down into manageable steps and knock em out one by one. Do something totally out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Have a hobby. Doesn't matter what it is. It trains your mind to follow a path towards gradual success and reward for effort.

I don't waste too much time online however I see a bad habit forming. I have Amazon Prime and I have been reading reviews on electronics, workout supplements, and other little things. The option of two day shipping is so amazing for me that I am constantly fighting myself on adding things to cart and hitting that pay button.

I run my own businesses, and generally control everything from my office which is at my house. It is so easy to get sidetracked whenever any type of screen is in front of you.
My own method is to complete my daily workload as early as possible, prepare the following days tasks, then go for a swim in the ocean or go for a walk with the dog.
But I still spend way more time online than I should. Like right now

Get a routine or a system going. Write down 10 things you want accomplish every day/week/month. Cross it off when you accomplish it. This will train your brain so that when you think about going onto one of those sites will it keep you from crossing off one of your tasks?

I installed the Block Site chrome extension and will only allow myself those sites after 11 PM.
