I just got my 5ml bottle.

the label says:

concentration: 1mg/ml
total pheromones: 5ml

it came with a dropper

how much is in each drop?

i know some mixes ask for 10 or 30 mcg .. how would i know?

There are 20 drops in 1 ml of alcohol or water (oil is different)
so 1mg/20 = 50 mcg per drop. (or actually 51, but it helps to keep things round)

If you want 10 mcg put four drops of 1mg/ml in 16 drops of alcohol = 20 total drops of alcohol (that's 1ml) with each of those drops containing 10 mcg/drop.

so currently i'm getting 50 mcg per drop?

Yeah, 1mg/ml = 50 mcg per drop.


I just use vodka to dilute. It'd be better to get something more pure since it would dry a bit faster. But vodka dries down quickly enough. It's also good to use a fixative of some type to slow diffusion. I like monolaurin tablets but lots of things will work.

I'd never heard of that stuff so thanks for posting it.
I've been considering diluting some of the stronger stuff with alcohol myself.

I've been trying to figure this one out. Based on reports on another forum the agreed dosage was 50mcg to 1 drop. However someone redid a calculation and it was found to be 25mcg to 1 drop. I think dbot also agreed on the 25mcg to 1 drop ratio

Anyone else care to shed some light on this

Vodka!!! Haha. Some from the pherocircle over here were considering using Bacardi 151 when we were facing an ethanol shortage and were trying to create our own mixes and filtrates

Go to any health food store. Some of the liquid supplements already come in their own dropper bottles of a perfect size.

If you give me a link to where the math was done I can look over it and tell you why theirs is wrong. ;-)

Smell compared to what? Vodka isn't supposed to have additives, so it's basically dilute ethanol. You're supposed to let stuff dry down, in any case.

You could also use various oils. They slow diffusion so you have to use more mone (10x more, generally) but they last a lot longer to compensate.

As for eye droppers, I don't know offhand if they have them but check Perfumer's Apprentice? You can also get plastic pipettes from a chem supply store. Only one pipette per chemical to prevent contamination.
