I was recently turned onto this molecule. Based on a cursory investigation is seems that this is a pheromone secreted by the axillary apocrine glands. It is known as a female attractant. It is supposedly used in the fragrance industry for its musky character.

Has anyone heard of his molecule? It is possible that pheromone producers are aware of this molecule and are using it as a secret ingredient?

Sigma-Aldrich sells it and since it's not considered a steroid it requires no special licensing to purchase it. I believe Firmenich also sells it under the brand names Exaltaloid and Exaltaloid Total. The only difference between the two being purity level.

The name is Exaltolide, it is widely used in perfumery. It naturally occurs in Angelica root and its EO, has structural similarities with mammalian steroids and was discussed in phero-related litarature before. As Scottie writes, possibly attractive to females, who are more sensitive to its odour.

Yea that's it. I knew I didn't have it quite right. I didn't know it was in Angelica root EO. I just did a quick search last night after a discussion with a phero user who has used it and mentioned in a mix he uses.Thanks for weighing in, I always learn something new from you.

So are you saying these samples are of pentadecalactone or the Angelica root EO? I'd rather purchase the former.

2ml is plenty for trying out an AC, especially a musk since dilutions of 1-10% in perfumers alc/Dpg are usually enough.

The alleged usefulness of Exaltolide is that it enhances virtually any mixture of fragrances and increases the wearability. Probably because it is "natural" in its properties which makes it interesting alongside any phero and hints at semiochemical effects of itself.

Made a 1% dilution of Exaltolide in dpg. Let it sit for 3 weeks and then will wear it alone, alongside AndrostAnone/Androsterone-S and some of my experimental mones.

Is this the same compound as plain pentadecalactone which is in testim? Testim is a testosterone gel that has a very powerful aphrodisiac-like smell. Many women have complimented me on it and it appears arousing to them. I've also found others speaking of its phero effect in women on other forums.

I've even read that the original jovan by andron contained it.
