Androstadienol is a poor surname to use. There are several hundred androstadienols which are possible under this general nomenclature.

(X,Y-androstadien-3beta-ol), (X and Y being any numbers from 1-30, with no two numbers being the same and with a difference of more than 1 or less than 1^(-1) when subtracted from each other (I.e. 2,4 is possible but not 2,2 , 2,3 , or 2,1) - This is the kind of logic which gives most people a serious headache to think about, but for some reason comes naturally to me...

Going though this logic and crunching the numbers equates to over 500 possible compounds which can rightly be called "androstadienol"

In terms of commonly known pheromones, 4,16-androstadien-3b-ol is definitely the one that shines. It is referenced with emphasis in the original Erox patent, and later studies by Erox show it to have a similar response (in mV) to androstadienone when measured using an EVG (electrovomeronasogram)

That's the beta isomer, right? All the references I can find to "androstadienol" refer to that molecule. Is there a corresponding alpha isomer? Or do I have something wrong?
