'''Epi-Androsterone''' ==Synonyms== Epi-Androsterone; Beta-Androsterone; Beta-Rone; 3-epi-Androsterone; 3-beta-Androsterone; 3-beta-Hydroxy-5-alpha-androstan-17-one; CAS# 481-29-8 ==Legal Aspects of Androsterone== Androsterone (Alpha-Androsterone CAS# 53-41-8, and it's isomer Beta-Androsterone CAS# 481-29-8 AKA Epi-Androsterone)is listed as a Anabolic Steroid in the State of Florida, USA. It is a Schedule III drug listed in Florida Statute 2012 CRIMES, DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION AND CONTROL, Title XLVI Chapter 893.03-(3)Schedule III-(d)Anabolic Steroids -(1)-(a) [http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?mode=View%20Statutes&SubMenu=1&App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=testosterone&URL=0800-0899/0893/Sections/0893.03.html] Related to Schedule III are the penalties found in 893.135 [http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=testosterone&URL=0800-0899/0893/Sections/0893.135.html] Federal US Law does not currently have Androsterone Listed as an anabolic Steroid, and as such, Florida law goes beyond US Fedaral Law in scheduling Androsterone as a restricted substance requiring a prescription for lawful possession. This is not exhaustive and should not be taken as a full list of Androsterone's standing in individual states or territories, only Florida State in 2012. There may be a way around this for pheromone usage as the usage levels of pheromones are extremely different than Anabolic Steroid dosage levels and method of application for pheromones are not for internal human consumption, but only for external use as a cosmetic/perfume/cologne. [the author does not represent these statements as legal advice] ==Endogenous Activity of Androsterone== Androsterone and Epi-Androsteron convert thru metabolic processes in the body into DHT. DHT among it's many hormonal activities in the human body is responsible for Male Pattern Baldness. In respect to Male Pattern Baldness DHT is preferentially created in the hair follicle cells, rather than being transported into the hair follicle cells from other parts of the body. It is not known if increased levels of Androsterone, Epi-Androsterone, or both on the skin or hair regions, will increase likeliness of occurrence or rate of progression of Male Pattern Baldness.
